Together, you will deliver projects and programmes that support the Trust’s strategic priorities to create new and improve existing places for people to walk, wheel and cycle.

You will use your recognised technical knowledge, apply practical and creative problem‑solving, and produce reliable technical outputs to deliver a wide variety of complex projects. These can range from developing new greenways from disused railway corridors to conceptual and outline designs for fully segregated urban cycle routes.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Engage with internal colleagues, external partners, regulatory authorities and other key stakeholders during project delivery.
  • Contribute to business development activities by preparing agreed project proposals.
  • Manage straightforward projects from start to finish through all RIBA stages.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a creative, fast‑moving environment and wants to stretch their skills across a wide range of disciplines. Working for the Trust means being part of a passionate, multi‑skilled team where you’ll collaborate with designers, engineers and specialists to shape real, positive change in communities. It’s an opportunity to grow your technical expertise, tackle meaningful challenges, and make a visible impact on the places people walk, wheel and cycle every day.

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field, such as Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Highway Design, or another relevant and clearly demonstrated specialism, with at least two years of experience. OR five years of work experience in a relevant role.
  • Competence in using design software that is appropriate for the role, e.g. AutoCAD suite including Civil 3D and other packages.
  • A working understanding of guidance and good practice in healthy street design, including inclusive design principles and a holistic approach to creating places.
  • A working understanding of Traffic Signs Manual and Specification for Highway Works.
  • A working understanding of health and safety management, including how to apply the CDM Regulations.
  • The ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and adults at risk.
