Job descriptionA group of well-established schools across Wiltshire is seeking a dependable School Caretaker to join its Estates team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a varied role offering the opportunity to work across multiple school sites, helping to ensure pupils and staff benefit from safe, secure, and well-maintained learning environments. From carrying out planned maintenance to responding to day-to-day repairs and supporting wider estates projects, the successful candidate will play an important role in the smooth running of each school. This opportunity would suit someone with experience in caretaking, facilities management, maintenance, or a similar hands-on role who enjoys practical work and takes pride in maintaining high standards. The Role Working closely with the Trust Estates Lead and individual school teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of several school sites. Responsibilities will include: Maintaining school buildings and grounds to a high standard Carrying out minor repairs, decorating, plumbing, and general maintenance Completing routine health and safety inspections and compliance checks Opening, securing, and monitoring school premises Responding promptly to reactive maintenance issues Liaising with contractors and overseeing works on site Supporting planned maintenance and improvement projects during school holidays Providing cover and assistance across other schools within the Trust when required About the Schools The schools are part of a collaborative Trust that places a strong emphasis on providing safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environments where pupils can thrive. The successful candidate will be practical, organised, and reliable, with the ability to manage a varied workload and respond calmly to unexpected maintenance issues. Previous experience working within a school environment would be beneficial but is not essential, as training will be provided.
