Main duties of the jobUniversity Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a locum consultant paediatric cardiologist with expertise in congenital cardiac intervention. The successful candidate will join a team of Paediatric Cardiologists and ACHD Cardiologists in the clinical care of patients with congenital heart disease, as a fourth congenital interventionist. Most duties are based at UHS including the children's cardiac ward, the PICU, the cardiac catheter laboratories and cardiac theatres. UHS is part of the Thames Valley and Wessex Operational Delivery Network.

Job responsibilitiesProvide CHD management and care for the full spectrum of congenital heart disease.Diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterisation for paediatric and adult congenital cardiac patients.Take part in a 1:10 on call 24/7 cover for all children with CHD including childrens cardiac ward, NICU, PICU cover.Take part in a 1:4 on call 24/7 cover for congenital cardiac catheterisation.

Person SpecificationQualifications, Training & ExperienceEssential- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
- Expertise in congenital cardiac catheterisation
Desirable- CCT (or within 6 months of CCT date) in Paediatric Cardiology
Aptitudes and skillsEssential- Evidence and ability to work effectively in multi-professional teams

- Evidence and ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients and colleagues (verbal and written communication skills in English)
