An innovative manufacturing business is looking for a Product Value Engineer to drive product cost reduction, value engineering and design improvement projects across its product range.
\n
This isn't a traditional Continuous Improvement role focused on shop floor processes. Instead, you'll be working closely with Engineering, Procurement and Production teams to identify smarter, more cost-effective ways of designing, sourcing and manufacturing products without compromising quality or performance.
The Role\n
\n - Lead product cost reduction and value engineering projects across existing product ranges.
\n - Challenge product designs, specifications and material selections to identify savings opportunities.
\n - Drive component rationalisation, standardisation and simplification initiatives.
\n - Work with suppliers to explore alternative materials, components and sourcing strategies.
\n - Support product redesign projects with a focus on manufacturability, performance and margin improvement.
\n - Manage a pipeline of cost-out and product improvement projects from concept through to implementation.
\n - Measure and report the commercial impact of improvement activities.
\n
Essential Requirements\n
\n - Experience delivering product cost reduction or value engineering projects.
\n - Background within Product Engineering, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing Engineering or a similar discipline.
\n - Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM/DFMA) principles.
\n - Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering, Procurement and Operations teams.
\n - Strong commercial awareness and analytical problem-solving ability.
\n
Desirable\n
\n - Experience with Design-to-Cost methodologies.
\n - Product optimisation, component rationalisation or specification simplification experience.
\n - Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
\n - Experience within a manufacturing environment.
\n
Why Apply?\n
This is a rare opportunity to join a business where you'll have the autonomy to challenge existing products, influence design decisions and deliver measurable commercial improvements.
\n
The successful individual will play a key role in improving product competitiveness, driving cost savings and helping shape the future direction of a growing manufacturing business.
\n
If you're looking to join a forward-thinking engineering business where you can develop your skills and make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.
