Job description
Senior Staff Nurse – Chemotherapy Day Unit
Location: Private Care at Guy’s, London
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Competitive with excellent benefits

At Private Care at Guy's, we see the difference that truly personalised cancer care can make. Every day, you'll support people through some of the most complex and important moments in their treatment journey — delivering specialist care with precision, compassion, and confidence.

As part of London Bridge Hospital, our cancer centre is rated Outstanding by the CQC and recognised for leading the way in oncology and haematology care. Here, you'll work in a modern Chemotherapy Day Unit designed to support high-acuity treatments in a calm, patient-focused environment. With 19 chemotherapy chairs and a safe nurse-to-patient ratio of one to five, you'll have the time and support to deliver exceptional patient care.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Band 6 Chemotherapy Nurse looking to further develop their leadership skills while remaining close to clinical practice. We also welcome applications from highly experienced Band 5 StaffNurses who are competent SACT providers and have been independently administering chemotherapy treatments for at least 12 months. This role offers an excellent opportunity to progress into a senior position within a supportive and clinically outstanding cancer service.

At HCA UK we care about what you care about. We care that you want to deliver the very best care. We care that you want a career you can be proud of. We care that you want working conditions that support your health and wellbeing. Let us care for you and your career, the same way you do for others.

What you’ll do
You'll deliver safe, effective Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) while supporting the day-to-day running of the unit. Your role will combine advanced clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, including:
  • Assessing, planning and delivering individualised patient care.
  • Administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other specialist infusions.
  • Caring for patients across Oncology and Haematology services.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior colleagues and new starters.
  • Contributing to service development, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure outstanding patient outcomes

What you’ll bring
  • Current NMC registration.
  • A minimum of 12 months' experience independently administering Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) within a chemotherapy setting.
  • Proven experience delivering high-quality care to Oncology and/or Haematology patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other specialist infusions.
  • The clinical knowledge, skills and confidence to contribute at Senior Staff Nurse level, supporting colleagues and helping to maintain high standards of patient care..
  • Experience supporting, coaching or mentoring colleagues would be advantageous.
