Job description
Are you an experienced finance professional looking to bring your skills into education? An Outstanding primary school in Wandsworth is seeking a dedicated Finance Officer to join its experienced business support team from October Half Term 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a high-achieving school where financial excellence helps create the very best learning environment for pupils. Supporting the School Business Manager, you'll play an important role in managing the school's day-to-day finances while becoming part of a friendly and collaborative staff team that values every member of its community. The Role The Finance Officer will support the efficient financial management of the school, ensuring robust financial processes are maintained and deadlines are met. Responsibilities include: Processing purchase orders, invoices and supplier payments Reconciling accounts and maintaining accurate financial records Supporting budget monitoring and financial reporting Managing income, including trips, lettings and parental payments Assisting with payroll administration and pension documentation where required Liaising with suppliers, contractors and external finance providers Ensuring compliance with financial procedures and audit requirements About the School This Outstanding primary school is recognised for its exceptional leadership, nurturing environment and commitment to helping every child achieve their full potential. The Successful Candidate The school is looking for a well-organised and detail-focused individual with previous experience in finance, accounting or business support. Strong numerical skills, excellent attention to detail and confidence using financial software and Microsoft Excel are essential. Experience within a school or academy would be advantageous but is not essential, and applications are welcomed from candidates looking to bring their finance expertise into education.
