Job description
Graduate Town Planner

Location: Cambridge

Salary: £25,000/£30,000

Are you a recent Town Planning graduate looking to launch your career with a highly respected multidisciplinary property and planning consultancy? An exciting opportunity has become available for a Graduate Town Planner to join a well-established planning team in Cambridge, offering outstanding training, career progression and support towards RTPI Chartership.

Working alongside experienced planners, architects and property professionals, you'll gain exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects while developing the technical and professional skills needed to build a successful career in planning. The successful graduate will also benefit from a structured internal training programme designed to support both personal and professional development.

The Role

As a Graduate Town Planner, you'll become part of a collaborative planning team, supporting a wide range of development projects from initial appraisal through to planning approval. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience across the full planning process while working closely with senior planners and multidisciplinary colleagues.

You'll gradually take on greater responsibility as your experience develops, with full mentoring and support provided throughout your graduate journey.

What's on Offer

* Competitive graduate salary. * Hybrid and flexible working arrangements. * Structured graduate training programme. * Full support towards professional qualifications and RTPI Chartership. * 25 days annual leave, increasing with length of service. * Life Assurance. * Salary Sacrifice Pension Scheme. * Health Cash Plan. * Enhanced family leave policies. * Holiday Buy Back Scheme. * Long Service Awards. * Paid volunteering day each year. * Clear long-term career progression within a nationally recognised multidisciplinary consultancy.

Key Responsibilities

* Assisting with the preparation of planning statements and planning appraisals. * Supporting the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals. * Undertaking planning research, policy analysis and site appraisals. * Assisting clients throughout the planning process. * Identifying and assessing new development opportunities. * Supporting larger planning projects alongside experienced planners. * Assisting with Design and Access Statements where required. * Monitoring planning applications and outcomes. * Attending site visits, client meetings, committee meetings and public consultations. * Supporting the preparation of project fee proposals.

About You

To be considered, you'll ideally have:

* An RTPI-accredited degree in Town Planning or a related discipline. * A genuine passion for planning and the built environment. * Previous planning experience is beneficial but not essential. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Strong research and analytical abilities. * A proactive approach and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.

If you're looking to begin your planning career with a consultancy that genuinely invests in its graduates, offers structured development and provides exposure to a wide variety of planning projects, we'd love to hear from you.
