Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a Secondary School in Durham on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for psychology graduates looking to gain valuable practical experience supporting children and young people with Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, and communication difficulties.

In this role, you will work closely with pupils both in the classroom and through targeted interventions, helping them develop confidence, independence, emotional resilience, and essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils
• Assist in implementing behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
• Promote positive mental health, wellbeing, and resilience
• Encourage active participation and engagement in lessons
• Build strong, trusting relationships with learners
• Monitor and report on pupil progress and development
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and specialist staff
• Foster confidence, independence, and social development

About You

• A Psychology graduate or final-year Psychology student

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
