This excellent locum Social Worker opportunity offers a competitive rate of £42.50 per hour and provides the chance to take a lead role in safeguarding children, supporting social work teams, and driving high-quality practice across Child Protection Services. This role is ideal for an experienced Senior Social Worker, Advanced Practitioner, or Child Protection Specialist with a strong background in managing complex safeguarding cases. You will provide expert social work knowledge, mentor colleagues, and support effective decision-making to improve outcomes for children and families. Key Responsibilities: * Lead on complex Child Protection cases, ensuring children and young people are safeguarded effectively. * Provide expert social work advice, guidance, and support to practitioners within the service. * Complete comprehensive assessments, risk assessments, and statutory social work interventions. * Support the delivery of high-quality practice across Child Protection, Children in Need, and safeguarding services. * Mentor and provide professional development support to social workers and colleagues. * Work collaboratively with partner agencies including health professionals, education providers, police, and legal services. * Contribute to strategy discussions, child protection conferences, core groups, and multi-agency meetings. * Review case progression and ensure interventions are timely, evidence-based, and child-focused. * Prepare high-quality reports, assessments, and court documentation where required. * Promote best practice, quality assurance, and continuous improvement within Children’s Services. * Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification. * Current registration with Social Work England. * Significant post-qualified experience within Children’s Social Care. * Extensive experience in Child Protection, Safeguarding, and statutory children’s social work. * Previous experience as a Lead Practitioner, Advanced Practitioner, Senior Social Worker, or similar role is desirable. * Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, child protection procedures, and statutory guidance. * Excellent leadership, mentoring, assessment, and decision-making skills. * Ability to manage complex cases and provide professional challenge where required. * Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
