We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor (Mechanical) to coordinate and supervise maintenance activities within a designated plant area, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of all internal and contractor maintenance work.

This is a key role supporting operational performance, equipment reliability, and legislative compliance within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.

As Maintenance Supervisor, you will act as the primary link between maintenance and production teams, ensuring maintenance activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring all maintenance activities comply with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, company policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinating and supervising all mechanical maintenance work within your assigned plant area.
  • Acting as the main point of contact between maintenance and production functions for planned and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to maintenance trades personnel.
  • Managing and monitoring the performance and quality of work delivered by contractors and internal maintenance teams.
  • Maintaining accurate mechanical asset data within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Producing maintenance performance reports and identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Developing and updating preventative maintenance programmes and procedures.
  • Leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and supporting reliability-centred maintenance activities.
  • Working collaboratively with production teams to improve the reliability and effectiveness of process and safety-critical equipment.
  • Managing the procurement and availability of strategic critical spares.
  • Developing Safe Systems of Work for maintenance activities.
  • Supporting compliance initiatives and assisting operational teams in meeting legislative requirements.
  • Conducting performance reviews, objective setting, coaching and development of team members.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a completed Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship.
  • Experience working with mechanical machinery within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in a maintenance supervisory or team leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good IT skills and experience working with CMMS systems.
  • The ability to work proactively, identify issues, and implement effective solutions.

Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates with:

  • NEBOSH qualification.
  • Experience within hazardous, high-risk, COMAH, or safety-critical manufacturing environments.
  • Lean Six Sigma qualification.
  • Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) and/or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) experience.
  • Risk Assessment training and practical experience.
  • Explosives Awareness Training.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • A strong commitment to Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to build and develop high-performing teams.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused mindset.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Strong technical capability and sound decision-making skills.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships across multiple departments.

Our client offers:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Generous pension scheme.
  • Private healthcare.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Flexible benefits package.
  • Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Access to a range of local and national employee discounts.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities.

If you're looking for an opportunity to make a real impact on equipment reliability, operational performance, and continuous improvement within a challenging and rewarding manufacturing environment, we'd love to hear from you.
