About the Role

Due to growth, we have an exciting opportunity for qualified primary school teachers! As an SEN Primary Teacher, you will deliver engaging and personalised learning programmes to students aged 7-11 with autism and additional learning needs. You will work closely with therapists, support staff and families to ensure every student achieves success academically, socially and emotionally.


The school is an incredible place for children with complex needs arising from autism, behaviour difficulties and learning difficulties to thrive, learn new skills, grow in confidence, and make new friends.



Reporting to the Principal you will be responsible for:


Delivery of teaching and learning to a small group of students with Autism, associated challenging behaviour and other learning difficulties, whilst demonstrating proven experience of delivering the national curriculum.


You will implement strategies for raising achievement and have knowledge of working with accreditation boards such as ASDAN and be committed to your further professional development.


Supporting pupils to make progress against their EHCP targets.


Safeguarding and protecting our pupils


Raise attendance, attainment, and achievement.


Working alongside our pupils and help support their learning and life skills.


Create a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment that promotes learning, independence and wellbeing.


Develop pupils' literacy, numeracy, communication and social skills through creative and personalised teaching approaches.


Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through a child-centred approach.


Lead and contribute to annual reviews, reports and parent meetings as required.


Contribute to wider school life, including enrichment activities, educational visits and celebrations of achievement.

Requirements

Skills and Experience:


Essential:


Experience teaching children or young people with SEND.


Experience teaching within a primary setting.


Understanding of the Primary National Curriculum.


Experience supporting children with SEND and diverse learning needs.


Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate learning strategies.


Strong classroom management skills.


Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.


Excellent communication and teamwork skills.


Ability to adapt learning to meet individual needs.


Strong organisational and IT skills.


QTS/NQT or equivalent, or Level 3 Teaching Award


Good interpersonal skills including ability to work effectively team of people and agencies.


Ability to work collaboratively.



Desirable:


Ability to demonstrate appropriate knowledge of:


Current Disability/SEN theory and practice particularly linked to Autism.


Full UK Driving licence


Experience working with autistic learners.


Knowledge of ASDAN or alternative accreditation pathways. xwwtmva


Experience working within a specialist SEND school.
