Lecturer in Horticulture (Variable Hours) Chippenham £21.13 - £25.34 per hour, plus holiday pay

You'll deliver engaging learning experiences that develop students' practical skills, technical knowledge, and understanding of sustainable horticultural practices, preparing them for careers within the industry or further study.

You'll encourage students to develop confidence, professionalism, and practical skills through hands-on learning across our outstanding Lackham campus.

We're particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience in Further Education (FE), schools, commercial horticulture, landscaping, garden design, grounds maintenance, nursery production, or estate management. Please note:

This is a Variable Hours position, with teaching hours dependent on curriculum delivery.

What You'll Do

Teach and assess students studying Horticulture and Land-Based programmes Deliver engaging practical and theoretical lessons covering horticultural principles and practices Develop schemes of learning, lesson plans, and assessment strategies that support outstanding learner achievement Deliver practical sessions across the College's horticultural facilities, helping students develop industry-standard skills Support students through enrichment activities, industry visits, competitions, and employer engagement opportunities Provide pastoral support and contribute to student enrolment and induction Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health & safety, and professional practice Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an outstanding learner experience

What You'll Bring

A degree or higher technical qualification in Horticulture, Garden Design, Landscape Management, or a related land-based subject Industry experience or teaching experience within horticulture or the wider land-based sector Sound practical knowledge of plant cultivation, propagation, grounds maintenance, sustainable horticultural practices, and the safe operation of horticultural equipment A passion for helping learners develop practical skills and achieve their career ambitions Teaching qualifications are welcomed but not essentialwe welcome applications from experienced industry professionals looking to move into education
