Job description
Are you looking for a fantastic opportunity to start or grow your career with Thames Water?

We're looking for a proactive and organised Business Support Coordinator to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave.

This role is an excellent stepping stone into Thames Water, offering exposure to a wide range of business operations and the chance to build valuable relationships across our operational teams.

In this role, you will provide specified business and administrative support to operational teams to help them meet their objectives. This includes but is not limited to procurement activity, budget tracking and reporting, meeting room organisation, coordinating site inductions, organising social and team events and coordinating team training needs.

What you’ll be doing as Business Support
  • Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accurate documentation, financial compliance, and timely receipting/recharging.
  • Monitor budgets, purchase order activity, P-Card spend and stock levels, producing regular reports for Production Managers.
  • Manage chemical and fuel stock control, including ordering, reporting, monitoring levels and escalating potential shortages or delivery issues.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and challenge spend on materials, chemicals, tools, equipment and consumables to deliver best value.
  • Maintain critical site supplies, including PPE, consumables, logbooks and operational stock required for safe site operation.
  • Support Production Managers with health and safety administration, reporting, action tracking and maintaining accurate site documentation (COSHH, schematics, asbestos and legionella records).
  • Coordinate training requirements, monitor renewals and ensure compliance with mandatory training and development plans.
  • Provide administrative support for facilities management, contractor escalations, document control and site access arrangements for new starters.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by supporting compliance with PPE, lone working, site rules and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practice, drive continuous improvement and support team engagement activities.
Base location: Farmoor WTW or Latton WTW depending on your home location, but you will be expected to travel across both sites.

Working pattern or hours: 07:30-15:30 Monday- Friday (36 hours). You will be expected in the office 4 days a week and 1 day working from home. Time arriving in the office can be flexible for parents or those looking for a role that fits around school drop-off and pick-up times- this can be discussed at interview stage.

Requirements for the role: You must have a valid UK driver's licence

What you should bring to the role
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply knowledge of the operation of the area where the job operates
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills, including strong customer focus
  • Good organisational skills, personally very well organised
  • Fully competent at using Microsoft Office, especially Excel and the use of Power BI.
  • Experience working with numbers and data reporting.
  • Must have a valid UK driving licence.
Additional skills and experiences would be great to have:
  • Previous experience using SAP.
What’s in it for you?
  • Competitive salary up to £28,000 per annum depending on experience
  • 24 days holiday per year increasing to 28 with the length of service (plus bank holidays)
  • Performance-related pay plan directly linked to company performance measures and targets
  • Generous Pension Scheme through AON
