Job description
Job summary
The post holder will lead on the development of Specialist level palliative care services across the Dudley Group NHS FT which includes the acute hospital and Dudley community. This role will be responsible for providing clinical leadership, practice development and care delivery ensuring strategic service development and operational service delivery.

The post holder's own practice will be at an advanced level, ensuring that their own contribution can both directly and indirectly influence all aspects of care and management of patients within the Specialist Palliative Care services.

The post holder will lead, manage and co-ordinate the Specialist Palliative Care services provided for the Trust and will form part of the 7 day working rota, contributing to direct clinical interventions providing specialist knowledge and expertise.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will develop and facilitate the provision of educational training and development for staff, promoting the implementation of evidence based holistic patient care.

The post holder will provide a corporate function in translating the significance and potential impact of government policies as they relate to Specialist and core level palliative and end of life care. The post holder will be a key member and attend Trust and Network meetings feeding back all Specialist level palliative and End of Life care related issues to the Clinical Director, Medical Head of Service and general manager.

The post holder will recognise and develop opportunities to work in new ways across organisational boundaries, professional and structural boundaries to improve Specialist Level palliative care for patients.
