We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer

Please note This role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend, diagnose and resolve faults on traffic signal assets and any other equipment covered within the scope of the Traffic Signal Maintenance (TSM) contract.
  • Completion and delivery of both reactive & proactive maintenance tasks, ensuring high quality standards are achieved at all times.
  • Periodic inspections of traffic signal assets, ancillary equipment and/or highways systems equipment including electrical testing.
  • Installation, replacement and set up of traffic signal assets, ancillary equipment and/or other highways systems, unsupervised or as part of a team.
  • Completion of remedial works following incidents such as Road Traffic Collisions equipment failure and/or damage.
  • Build and maintain a positive relationship with your customers and work collaboratively with contractors that may be on site.
  • Proper use of relevant hand tools, power tools, working at height and manual handling aides in accordance with the companys risk assessments, method statements and relevant training.
  • Produce and submit high quality, detailed and accurate clearance notes via the relevant Fault Management System (FMS) and other digital platforms as required.
  • Support contract management team and customer with site surveys and visits to assist in the efficient and safe delivery of works.
  • Complete works in accordance with contract specific requirements, such as adhering to response & repair times or carrying out periodic/planned works in line with the relevant schedule and specification.
  • Book time in accordance with the Variable Pay Policy Field Services and Live Time Booking process.
  • Meet the minimum requirements of the relevantHighway Electrical Registrations Scheme(HERS) occupation, and working towards or completed the associated NVQ level
  • Successful completion of mandatory National Highway Sector Scheme training requirements as well as product and equipment training. Training will be a mixture of formal, peer to peer, on the job and self-learning.
  • Work out of hours to support service and installation needs, ensuring contract expectations are fulfilled, including taking part in an on-call rota.
  • Support a positive Health & Safety culture in accordance with the companys policies and procedures. For example, through the review and completion of relevant task specific risk assessments, event reporting, vehicle & equipment checks, and correct use of lone working device.
  • Accurate collection and processing of data to enable fault-free analysis of equipment performance.
  • Ensure works are completed in accordance with the site specification, in a timely manner and to a sufficient quality level.
  • Support the training, development, and upskilling of other team members.
  • Adopt new business policies and processes in a positive way.
  • Any other duties reasonably requested within the skills required for the role to enable a seamless service delivery.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 4 GCSEs including Mathematics and English (Grades A-C/ or 4-9) or HNC/ONC/ City and Guilds or equivalent experience in electrical engineering or similar.
  • Traffic Signals and/or Highways industry experience preferred not esential.
  • Reliability/Dependability - Consistently performs at a high level; manages time and workload effectively to meet responsibilities.
  • Initiative & Flexibility - Makes thoughtful, well-reasoned decisions; exercises good judgment, resourcefulness, and creativity in problem-solving.
  • Effectiveness - drive and energy applied to work, accuracy and reliability, ability to get things right first time.
  • Cooperation & Teamwork - Communicate well and take onboard instructions effectively, display a willingness to work co-operatively with colleagues in a variety of work settings.
  • Safe Approach Promote a positive Health & Safety culture across your team. You must be willing to challenge yourself, your team and others when it comes to safety.
