Job description

Receptionist - Windsor, Berkshire

Located right on the river edge in the centre of Royal Windsor, Sir Christopher Wren Hotel & Spa is a popular four star hotel in an unbeatable setting. Comprised of several characterful buildings clustered around a historic cobbled street by Eton Bridge, the hotel offers a collection of individually styled bedrooms, a modern conference centre, The Brasserie restaurant and bar, and the Wren's Club spa and fitness centre. The perfect riverside location is just steps from Windsor Castle, and is popular for tourists as well as visitors for meetings and events.

Ready to be the friendly face that makes every guest feel at home?

If you love meeting people, enjoy delivering exceptional customer service, and thrive in a busy hotel environment, we'd love to hear from you.

At Sarova Hotels, we're a family-run collection of hotels where people genuinely matter. We believe that when we look after our team, they'll look after our guests. That's why we invest in our people, support career development, and create an environment where everyone feels valued, encouraged and able to grow.

Based in our beautiful, welcoming reception area, you'll be one of the first people our guests meet and one of the last they'll see before they leave. You'll play a key role in creating memorable stays by providing a warm welcome, outstanding service and ensuring every guest enjoys the genuine hospitality Sarova is known for.

Whether you're checking in a family on holiday, helping a business guest with a request, or recommending local attractions, no two days are the same.

The Role

  • Working 40 hours per week across any 5 days out of 7, you'll be responsible for delivering a friendly, efficient and professional reception service from arrival to departure.
  • As part of our Front Office team, you'll welcome guests, manage check-ins and check-outs, answer enquiries, handle reservations and work closely with colleagues across the hotel to ensure every guest enjoys a seamless experience.
  • The role includes a mixture of early and late shifts, predominantly 7am - 3:30pm or 2:15pm – 10:45pm. Weekend and bank holiday working is required as part of the rota.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is passionate about hospitality and genuinely enjoys looking after people. Whether you already have hotel reception experience or have developed excellent customer service skills in another hospitality or customer-facing environment, we'd love to hear from you.
Most importantly, you'll have a positive attitude, enjoy working as part of a team and take pride in delivering exceptional service.

Why join Sarova Hotels?

As a family-run hotel group, we know that great hospitality starts with great people. We pride ourselves on creating a supportive workplace where everyone is encouraged to develop their career, share ideas and enjoy coming to work.

Whether you're looking to build your career in hospitality or develop new skills, we'll give you the support, encouragement and opportunities to help you succeed.

  • Stream – flexible access to your earned wages and financial coaching app
  • A paid day off for your birthday
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme for you and your family
  • Saroving Rewards for outstanding guest service
  • Employee appreciation events
  • Family & Friends accommodation rates and staff food & beverage discounts across the group
  • Training and development opportunities to support your career growth

As our receptionist, you'll have...

  • Previous experience working in a customer-facing role, ideally within a hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Experience using the Opera Property Management System would be an advantage.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • A warm, friendly and professional approach.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to remain calm and professional in a busy environment.
  • Good computer literacy and confidence using hotel systems.
  • A flexible approach to working hours and shifts.
  • A positive, hands-on attitude and a passion for hospitality.

What will you be doing as our receptionist?

  • Welcoming guests with a warm, friendly and professional approach.
  • Completing efficient check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Managing guest enquiries, requests and reservations both in person and over the telephone.
  • Providing information about the hotel and local area.
  • Handling guest requests and resolving any issues promptly, escalating where appropriate.
  • Processing payments and maintaining accurate guest records using Opera PMS.
  • Working closely with Housekeeping and other hotel departments to ensure rooms are ready and guest expectations are exceeded.
  • Ensuring reception standards, procedures and brand standards are maintained at all times.
  • Supporting your colleagues to deliver an outstanding guest experience every day.

Please note: there is no staff car parking on site at the hotel, but plenty of secure space to store bicycles and with great access to local bus and train services.

In line with the requirements of the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006, all applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from candidates as part of the recruitment process.
