This is a fantastic opportunity to join our Financial Business Services team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, supporting a business that delivers critical capability across defence, aerospace and engineering. You'll play a key leadership role within our Reporting, Control & Efficiency function, helping to drive best practice, strengthen financial controls, and support business transformation across the Land & Aviation sector.

The role

As a Financial Reporting Manager, you'll be joining a high-performing team at the heart of Babcock's finance function. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you'll lead financial reporting, governance and control activities while helping shape the future of finance services across the business.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong finance professional who enjoys driving continuous improvement, leading teams, and making a tangible impact. You'll gain exposure to complex financial reporting environments, influence business-wide decision-making, and contribute to the success of programmes that support national security and critical infrastructure.

Day-to-day you’ll be responsible for:

• Leading and developing a motivated finance team, setting objectives and supporting professional growth.
• Managing the transition of finance activities into the team as the function continues to evolve.
• Driving the standardisation and improvement of finance policies, processes and controls across the business.
• Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, Group accounting policies and financial governance requirements.
• Preparing and overseeing statutory accounts, compliance reporting and corporate tax deliverables for Land & Aviation entities.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on a 12-month fixed term contract and is fully remote. Travel to Devonport, Plymouth will be required on a quarterly basis for team meetings.

Essential experience of the Financial Reporting Manager

• Demonstrable experience leading, developing and managing teams within a finance function.
• Strong audit background with extensive statutory accounts preparation experience.
• Experience reviewing, improving and streamlining finance processes and controls.
• Advanced technical accounting expertise with the ability to communicate complex concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience using finance systems such as SAP, Navision, IFS or similar, alongside strong Microsoft Office skills.

Qualifications for the Financial Reporting Manager

Essential:

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

Desirable:

• Experience operating within a large, complex organisation.
• Knowledge of IFRS and broader financial reporting frameworks.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
