Job description

Are you passionate about helping learners overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve their goals? This is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting learner wellbeing, attendance, personal development and progression at North Lindsey College.

As a Wellbeing Coach, you will provide information, guidance and practical support to learners, including apprentices, helping them to succeed both academically and personally. Working as part of the Wellbeing, Inclusion, Safeguarding and Prevent team, you will deliver one-to-one and group interventions, manage learner wellbeing concerns, monitor attendance and support learners who may be at risk of disengagement.

You will work closely with curriculum teams, parents/carers and specialist support services to ensure learners receive timely and effective support. Through wellbeing action plans, targeted interventions and a learner-centred approach, you will help learners develop confidence, independence, positive behaviours and the skills needed for work and life. EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

  • Location: North Lindsey College
  • Salary: £26,131 - £27,436 per annum pro rata
    Actual salary: £24,422.43 - £25,642.11
  • Contract type: Permanent
  • Hours: 35.5 hours per week
  • Working weeks: 40 weeks per year
  • Reporting line: Wellbeing, Inclusion, Safeguarding and Prevent Leadership Team

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide one-to-one and group wellbeing support to learners, including apprentices, to promote retention, attendance and achievement.
  • Manage initial learner concerns, deliver short and medium-term interventions, and make referrals to appropriate internal or external support services.
  • Create, monitor and review individual wellbeing action plans and SMART targets as part of learners’ individual learning plans.
  • Monitor learners and groups who may be at risk, using data and targeted interventions to improve outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely learner records using electronic systems such as CPOMS and ProSuite.
  • Work closely with curriculum teams, tutors, parents/carers and other professionals to support learner success and wellbeing.
  • Support learners to develop confidence, independence, organisation, time management and employability skills.
  • Contribute to the College’s wellbeing, inclusion, safeguarding and Prevent agenda, helping learners stay safe and engaged.
  • Assist with learner progression activities, including careers education, guidance and UCAS-related support where required.
  • Staff the Wellbeing Centre as directed and contribute to relevant events, activities and quality assurance processes.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths.
  • Experience of working with learners in a teaching, tutoring, mentoring or coaching capacity.
  • Ability to support learners through one-to-one and group interventions, including setting and reviewing SMART targets.
  • Understanding of issues that may affect learners and act as barriers to education, including awareness of safeguarding, Prevent and inclusion.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organisational and ICT skills, with the ability to manage priorities and work collaboratively to support learner success.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Degree-level qualification, teaching and learning qualification, or willingness to work towards a relevant qualification.
  • Information, Advice and Guidance qualification at Level 2, or willingness to work towards it.
  • Understanding of Pro Monitor and the Education Inspection Framework (EIF), particularly in relation to personal development, behaviour and attitudes, safeguarding, Prevent and inclusion.
