Job summary

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Pathology Department is currently underway with a programme of transformational change to enhance the user of technology, automation, digital systems and equipment across pathology services in support of patient care and operational efficiency.

The post holder will, under the guidance of the Pathology Programme Manager, be responsible for management and delivery of multiple concurrent pathology projects ranging from small operational initiatives to major transformation programmes exceeding £1 million in value.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide project management leadership for the procurement, implementation and delivery of multiple pathology projects and transformation programmes ranging from operational improvements to large-scale digital and service redesign initiatives.The post holder will ensure projects are delivered safely, effectively and in accordance with agreed objectives, quality standards, budgets and timescales.The post holder will work collaboratively with clinical, operational, digital and corporate stakeholders to coordinate project activities, governance, reporting, communication and implementation planning.The post holder will support performance improvement, service development and organisational change across pathology services and associated programmes.The post holder will role model compassionate and inclusive leadership behaviours, supporting collaboration, engagement and continuous improvement across teams and organisational boundaries.

  • Knowledge of NHS Pathology services OR equivalent experience of training, staff and project management knowledge to post graduate diploma level equivalent.
  • Degree or substantial project management experience.
  • Qualification and experience in project management methodology to PRINCE2 Practitioner level or equivalent.
