About the role

As Student Conduct Lead, you'll play a key role in responding to reports and disclosures relating to student conduct, including harassment and sexual misconduct (HSM). You'll assess concerns, identify and manage risk, help students understand the options available to them and determine the most appropriate course of action.

Working with colleagues across the University, you'll coordinate an appropriate institutional response, including signposting students to support, facilitating early or informal resolution where appropriate and, where matters require formal investigation, ensuring a seamless transition into the University's formal case management process.

Alongside your operational responsibilities, you'll help shape policy, improve practice and use insight from emerging themes to strengthen the University's approach to prevention and early intervention.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive and assess reports and disclosures relating to student conduct, harassment and sexual misconduct (HSM), identifying risk, coordinating appropriate support and determining the most appropriate route forward.
• Support students through complex and sensitive situations, using professional judgement to facilitate early intervention or informal resolution where appropriate, and referring matters requiring formal investigation into the University's formal case management process.
• Work in partnership with colleagues across the University and external agencies to coordinate effective responses and ensure students are connected with the right support.
• Review and develop policies, procedures and guidance, ensuring practice reflects regulatory expectations, sector good practice and the evolving needs of our student community.
• Use data and professional insight to improve services and contribute to training, prevention and continuous service improvement.

For this role, you will need to be on site 3 days a week. Although we can accommodate working from home for this role, flexibility to be on-site will be expected due to business needs.

What we’re looking for

• You'll bring sound professional judgement, excellent communication skills and the confidence to make balanced decisions in complex situations.
• You may currently work in higher education, safeguarding, employee relations, health, policing, local government or another complex case management or regulatory environment where you've managed sensitive reports, assessed risk and worked with people experiencing challenging circumstances.
• You'll be comfortable building relationships and navigating competing priorities. Most importantly, you'll recognise that responding well to concerns is about more than following process - you'll have the confidence to exercise sound professional judgement, balancing the needs of those involved with the University's responsibilities to ensure concerns are managed consistently and with compassion.

We are a small, specialist team where collaboration and professional autonomy go hand in hand. Each member of the team leads on their own area of expertise while working closely together to deliver a joined-up service for students.

This role focuses on responding to reports and disclosures, assessing risk and determining the most appropriate response. Alongside this, our Student Training, Communications and Campaigns Specialist leads on prevention, awareness raising and student engagement, helping to build a culture of respect across our University community.

Whilst each role has a distinct focus, they work in close partnership to ensure concerns are responded to consistently, students are connected with the right support and preventative activity continues to strengthen our respectful University community.
