Job description
Mechanical Technician If you would rather be outdoors and hands-on than stuck behind a desk, this is the role for you. This is a Mechanical Technician role with a growing renewable energy business near Ely, on a four-on, four-off shift pattern. As a Mechanical Technician you will keep the plant and machinery running across a growing renewable energy operation, working on the equipment that turns organic waste into clean energy. It is varied, genuinely hands-on work, service, repair, maintenance, installation, fault-finding and inspection, on a four-on, four-off, 12-hour shift pattern. Be clear on one thing: this is an outdoor role, with up to 90% of your time spent outside across operational plant areas, often at height and in all weathers. If you are a practical, resilient technician who likes different problems every day and takes pride in keeping things running, no two days here will be the same. Job Responsibilities * Carrying out repairs and maintenance in line with the schedules set by the maintenance managers * Performing service, repair, maintenance, installation, testing, inspection and fault-finding to a high standard * Working on motors, engines, augers, conveyors, gearboxes, pneumatics, hydraulics and valves * Working outdoors and at height across operational plant areas, in all weather conditions * Operating plant machinery such as tele-handlers and forklifts, with training provided * Keeping accurate maintenance records using company logging systems on a handheld tablet * Working safely and to a high standard at all times, adhering to health and safety best practice * Carrying out ad-hoc duties to keep the operation running smoothly Skills and Experience To succeed as a Mechanical Technician you will need: * Proven experience as an all-round industrial or agricultural Mechanical Technician * Mechanical experience across motors, engines, augers, conveyors, gearboxes, pneumatics, hydraulics and valves * A strong background in service, repair, maintenance and installation * Solid fault-finding and investigation skills * Confidence working at height and outdoors in all weathers * Experience driving plant machinery * A full UK driving licence and full right to work in the UK * A tele-handler or forklift ticket, which is desirable * Cherry-picker experience, which is desirable * Welding experience would be an advantage Pay and Benefits As a Mechanical Technician you will receive: * A salary of up to £40,000 depending on experience * A four-on, four-off, 12-hour shift pattern with overtime available * 6am to 6pm * 28 days annual leave, including public holidays * Workplace pension * A company vehicle for travel between sites * Full PPE provided * Free on-site parking, and free tea and coffee Ready to apply?
