To deliver high-quality teaching training coaching and assessment for learners on a range of Early Years programmes including adult learning and Skills Bootcamps. The postholder will support learners to achieve successful outcomes and progression through tailored engaging and compliant learning experiences. This includes responsibility for planning delivery assessment and learner support aligned to sector funding and awarding organisation requirements.

Key Responsibilities and Key Performance Indicators


  • Responsible for an agreed caseload of learners providing them with high-quality training coaching mentoring and assessment to achieve their associated qualifications in a timely manner.
  • Design and deliver individual and group-based learning across a range of delivery models (face-to-face online hybrid) ensuring training is aligned to Early Years sector standards awarding organisation expectations adult learning principles and contractual requirements.
  • Undertake robust initial assessments to inform personalised learning plans adapting delivery to meet the needs of adult learners with diverse backgrounds learning needs and starting points.
  • Plan and sequence training sessions that are learner and employer responsive and progression focused ensuring learners are equipped with sector-relevant skills to enter or advance in Early Years employment.
  • Collaborate with employers to develop meaningful outcome-focused training plans and ensure active involvement in supporting learner progress and workplace application of knowledge and skills.
  • Provide high-quality IAG throughout the learner journey including pre-course advice support with progression planning and guidance to sustain employment or further learning.
  • Ensure that all learners and employers are provided with a comprehensive induction programme confirming that employers know their roles and responsibilities in the collaborative relationship to support the progress of their learner.
  • Develop and implement effective training and learning strategies and activities including resources to support learners in making progress towards successful completion of their learning programme.
  • Provide training coaching and assessment ensuring training meets standards set by Acorn Training assessments that meet the quality standards of Awarding Organisations and ensuring alignment with Ofsted expectations and Early Years sector standards.
  • Plan record and track Guided Learning Hours assessment opportunities and learner progression maintaining clear records and reporting in line with awarding organisation funding body and internal audit standards.
  • Actively support and encourage the continuous development of learners English maths and digital skills and communication skills relevant to Early Years practice including maintaining effective relationships with parents and carers.
  • Ensure all learners have access to pastoral support including ensuring a good understanding of Safeguarding Prevent Radicalisation Equality Diversity and Fundamental British values.
  • Organise and plan assessment opportunities and regular review meetings with learners and their employer to set and review targets and progress and ensure constructive feedback that is developmental is documented and provided to enhance learners progress.
  • Provide information advice and guidance to learners and employers throughout their programme ensuring that all learners are aware of Guidance and Wellbeing available to them to support their progress.
  • Effectively manage timescales and be clear in setting and agreeing objectives and deadlines monitoring training and assessment outcomes and achievement.

  • Maintain an electronic diary of sessions and visits to the learners in their workplaces ensuring visits and interactions are planned adhering to the lone working policy.
  • Maintain accurate records for all learners in electronic systems ensuring that all interactions are documented in a timely manner.
Key Performance Indicators
  • The progress made by learners over time as measured by their performance skills development and achievement of specific learning outcomes from their starting point.
  • The quality of feedback provided to learners including its effectiveness in guiding their development and continuous improvement.
  • The standard and quality of teaching learning and assessment practice in both 1:1 and group delivered sessions.
  • The level of engagement and collaboration with stakeholder ensuring effective coordination and alignment in assessment processes and practices.
  • The level of learner and employer satisfaction with the teaching learning and assessment process and approach.
  • The timeliness and level of learner achievement including improved performance increased knowledge retention and enhanced skills acquisition.

Skills Knowledge & Expertise


Qualifications and specific training
  • Level 5 in subject sector specialism (essential)
  • Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent (essential)
  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or equivalent (essential)
  • GCSE grade A*-C (or equivalent) in English and Maths (essential)
  • Full clean driving licence and access to vehicle/business insurance for travel (essential)
  • BA in subject sector specialism (desirable)
  • Level 4 IQA qualification (desirable)
  • Level 5 Certificate in Education and Training (CET) or equivalent (desirable)
  • IOSH Health and Safety at Work qualification (desirable)
  • First Aid at Work qualification (desirable)
Experience
  • Recent vocational experience or history of industry related continuous professional development (essential)
  • Experience of dealing with employers in a professional capacity (essential)
  • Experience working with e-Portfolios (essential)
  • Meeting targets for timely achievement (essential)
  • Working successfully as part of a team (essential)
  • Supporting learners to achieve successful outcomes in a work-based environment (desirable)
  • Working with a diverse caseload of learners (i.e. Apprentices Adult Learners Commercial Learners) (desirable)
Knowledge
  • Deep knowledge of early years childcare practice practices (essential)
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies (essential)
  • Familiarity with the latest trends technologies and best practices in adult education and development (essential)
  • Knowledgeable in the use of ICT to support teaching learning assessment and communication (essential)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the expectations of Ofsted and subject knowledge and expertise that reflects best practice in the field or sector (desirable)
