Job description

Site Manager – Build the Future of Energy with TMS Grid

Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + Working Away Allowance + Benefits including salary sacrifice pension, 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays, wellbeing support, eye tests, flu vaccinations, and ongoing training and development.

Great projects need great people.

At TMS Grid, we believe a Site Manager is more than someone who manages a programme, completes paperwork, and attends site meetings.

A great Site Manager sets the standard on site — creating a safe environment, bringing people together, solving problems, and making sure everyone goes home safely.

We are looking for an experienced Site Manager who takes pride in their work, leads from the front, and wants to be part of a growing business where their experience is valued.

If you are looking for a role where you are trusted to deliver, supported by your team, and given the opportunity to make a real impact, we would like to hear from you.

The Opportunity

TMS Grid Ltd is a growing NERS-accredited Independent Connection Provider (ICP) and EPC contractor delivering critical energy infrastructure, grid connection, and renewable energy projects across the UK.

We are building a team of people who care about what they do — people who understand that successful projects are not just about programmes and budgets, but about teamwork, communication, quality, and looking after each other. This is a full time employed role,

As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Site Manager who can take ownership of site delivery and help us continue to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be trusted to manage site operations, lead teams, and make decisions that support successful project delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Site Manager, you will be responsible for the safe and successful delivery of site activities from mobilisation through to completion.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking ownership of day-to-day site operations and delivery.
  • Leading and motivating site workers, civil operatives, subcontractors, and supervisors.
  • Planning daily activities and coordinating labour, plant, materials, and resources.
  • Reviewing, implementing, and monitoring Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Ensuring safe systems of work are understood, communicated, and followed at all times.
  • Creating a positive health, safety, and environmental culture where everyone understands their responsibilities.
  • Delivering site inductions, toolbox talks, briefings, and safety conversations.
  • Carrying out regular site inspections and ensuring compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and current legislation.
  • Managing Temporary Works in accordance with approved procedures and designs.
  • Working closely with Project Managers, engineers, clients, utility providers, and project stakeholders.
  • Monitoring progress against programme, identifying risks, and implementing practical solutions.
  • Maintaining quality standards, accurate records, and site reporting requirements.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for an experienced Site Manager who can confidently lead from the front and understands what good site delivery looks like.

You will be someone who:

  • Takes ownership and accountability for their work.
  • Builds strong relationships with teams, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Understands that safety is a culture, not just a process.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively.
  • Can manage challenges and find practical solutions.
  • Takes pride in delivering quality projects.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Site Manager within civil engineering, utilities, infrastructure, or similar sectors.
  • Proven experience managing construction sites from mobilisation through to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering construction methods.
  • SMSTS qualification.
  • Level 5 NVQ in Construction Site Management (or equivalent).
  • 3-Day First Aid at Work qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience reviewing and implementing RAMS.
  • Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and current UK Health & Safety legislation.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, site teams, and civil operatives.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Requirements

  • Temporary Works Supervisor qualification.
  • Experience working within power, utilities, renewable energy, or grid infrastructure projects.

Working Away

Due to the nature of our projects, the successful candidate may occasionally be required to work away from home.

We recognise the commitment this requires, and a working away allowance will be provided in advance of travel. All arrangements will be confirmed prior to attending projects away from your normal place of work.

Why Join TMS Grid?

At TMS Grid, we believe our people are the reason we succeed.

We are a growing business where you are known, valued, and trusted to make a difference. We are committed to creating an environment where people are supported, respected, and given the opportunity to succeed.

When you join TMS Grid, you can expect:

  • A salary package that recognises your experience and contribution.
  • Working away allowance provided in advance where required.
  • Support, guidance, and training to ensure you are safe, competent, and compliant.
  • The opportunity to work on exciting energy and infrastructure projects.
  • A supportive team environment where your experience and ideas are valued.
  • The opportunity to develop your career as the business continues to grow.

Our Benefits

We want our people to feel valued, supported, and recognised for the important role they play in our success.

Alongside a competitive salary and working away allowance, our benefits include:

  • Salary sacrifice pension scheme.
  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Employee Assistance Programme providing confidential support and advice.
  • Access to wellbeing resources and support.
  • Annual eye test support.
  • Flu vaccination support.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • Support to maintain and develop industry qualifications.
  • Opportunities for career progression as the business continues to grow.
  • A supportive working environment where your experience, ideas, and contribution are valued.
