Southampton FC Women are looking for an experienced and proactive First Team Physiotherapist to play a central role within the club’s high-performance environment.
This is an exciting opportunity for a strong practitioner who wants to take the next step in their career. While the core of the role is hands-on physiotherapy delivery, you will also provide day-to-day leadership across the multidisciplinary team, helping to align medical, sports science, player care and coaching support around the First Team.
The club are looking for someone who can bring high professional standards, sound clinical judgement and the confidence to make clear, evidence-based decisions in the best interests of the player.
The impact you’ll make
- Lead the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of First Team players
Deliver progressive and individualised rehabilitation programmes, both in the gym and on the pitch
Work closely with the Head Coach, physical performance staff, club doctor and wider MDT to support player availability and performance
Lead injury prevention, screening and ongoing player management across the squad
Provide matchday and training medical cover
Support pre-signing medicals, clinical reporting and injury audits
Help bring structure, alignment and consistency across the First Team performance team
Create engaging and creative rehabilitation environments that keep injured players motivated throughout their return-to-play journey
Contribute to player welfare meetings and ensure each player is supported from both a physical and wellbeing perspective
What’s in it for you?
- A genuine opportunity to step into broader MDT leadership while remaining an active practitioner
Autonomy to introduce new ideas, develop processes and shape how medical provision is delivered
Support from a part-time club doctor, casual physiotherapists, sports therapists and the wider medical structure at Staplewood
The chance to work in a close-knit environment where your contribution will be visible and valued
A strong development opportunity for someone who may ultimately want to progress towards a performance leadership role
Your skills and experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy
HCPC registration and CSP membership
Experience working within football, elite sport or a high-performance clinical environment
Strong rehabilitation, injury prevention and pitch-side skills
The confidence to communicate difficult decisions clearly and provide rationale to players and coaches
A collaborative and professional approach, with the ability to build strong relationships across a multidisciplinary team
Excellent organisation, clinical record keeping and attention to detail
A creative, individualised approach to rehabilitation
Leadership experience, or the ambition and capability to take on greater MDT responsibility
This role would suit someone who is ready to take ownership, bring fresh ideas and make a genuine impact within Southampton FC Women’s First Team environment.
