Job description
Job summary
It is an exciting time to join Salisbury Emergency Department as a Band 7; we are in a period of transition within the UEC team. This gives you the unique opportunity to shape the changes in emergency care and pathways to feel the tangible differences you can make.

We are continuing to look to develop our services and care we provide within Urgent and Emergency care including looking at developing a co-located Urgent Treatment Centre

There are also opportunities to expand on leadership skills as you will be responsible for a junior team and OD&P elements of managing junior staff. A band 7 development program is currently being designed, you will have opportunity and support to train and work alongside the coach house in change management, to broaden your experience.

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust serves a mostly rural population; we are also a designated Trauma Unit with a track record in handling major incidents successfully which offers a varied and challenging patient workload, and the number of attendances is growing. We currently see approximately 50,000 patients per year.

Main duties of the job
You will be able to demonstrate expert knowledge in emergency nursing and be able to translate this into effective nursing practice. You will need to be a team player, have proven leadership abilities, be energetic, proactive and committed to your own professional development and that of others.

You will be working in partnership with the ED Matron to manage and provide leadership to the nursing team. Working collaboratively with the Lead Clinician and ED Service Manager, as well as the wider ED Senior team, to continuously improve and develop the service.

  • Demonstrable experience at band 6 level in Emergency Nursing or equivalent
  • Experience of Leading a Team
  • Competent understanding of OD and People Policies
  • Registered Nurse with NMC
