Job description
The UK water sector is undergoing unprecedented investment, creating exciting opportunities to deliver the infrastructure needed to improve resilience, protect the environment and support future generations. At Stantec, our Electrical Engineering teams are at the heart of this transformation, delivering innovative EICA solutions for some of the UK's largest and most complex water projects.

We're looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing team in Newcastle or Leeds . Working alongside multidisciplinary specialists across our national Water business, you'll contribute to projects that span the full asset lifecycle, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and construction support. This is an excellent opportunity to build on your technical expertise, work with recognised industry leaders and take ownership of increasingly complex projects while progressing your career within one of the UK's leading engineering consultancies.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering EICA design solutions across a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater projects.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Delivering electrical engineering and EICA designs from concept through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Producing electrical calculations, Single Line Diagrams, Block Cable Diagrams, equipment schedules and technical specifications.
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and clients to develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Supporting design reviews, HAZOPs and technical workshops.
  • Mentoring graduate and junior engineers while contributing to technical best practice.
  • Supporting project delivery across multiple frameworks within the UK water sector.

YOUR IMPACT

The solutions you develop will directly support the delivery of resilient water infrastructure that improves operational performance, reduces environmental impact and provides reliable services for communities across the UK. Your work will influence major investment programmes that help water companies achieve ambitious sustainability and regulatory targets.

Alongside project delivery, you'll contribute to developing technical capability within the team by mentoring colleagues, sharing knowledge and embracing innovative engineering approaches. As your experience grows, you'll have clear opportunities to progress into future technical and people leadership roles.

ABOUT YOU Essential
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience delivering electrical or EICA design within infrastructure, utilities or industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of electrical design standards and low voltage power distribution.
  • Experience producing technical calculations, drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.

Desirable
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer, or actively working towards professional registration.
  • Experience within the UK water sector.
  • Experience facilitating HAZOPs or participating in design reviews.
  • Knowledge of DSEAR requirements and hazardous area design.
