Job description
Are you an experienced finance leader looking for genuine commercial influence and a clear route to becoming Finance Director?We are partnering with a successful business seeking a hands-on Head of Finance to lead its finance function through its next phase of growth.Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will manage a team of 4-5 and take full ownership of finance across the business. This is a broad, end-to-end position combining strategic planning, board reporting and commercial decision support with oversight of the company's core financial operations.The business is looking for someone with the ambition and capability to progress into the Finance Director position within the next three - four years.THE ROLEAs Head of Finance, your responsibilities will include:* Leading, managing and developing a finance team of 4-5* Owning the production of monthly management accounts and board reporting* Leading budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management* Overseeing statutory reporting, audit, VAT, payroll and year-end processes* Developing and maintaining robust financial controls* Improving reporting, systems and business processes* Providing clear commercial insight to support strategic and operational decisions* Partnering with department heads to improve profitability and performance* Identifying opportunities to increase efficiency across the finance function* Acting as the trusted finance partner to the Managing Director and senior leadership teamABOUT YOUThis opportunity would suit an ambitious finance professional who enjoys the pace, variety and influence of a hands-on SME environment.You will ideally have:* An ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, or equivalent experience* Experience as a Head of Finance, Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager* A strong understanding of both strategic and operational finance* Experience leading and developing a finance team* Strong budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow and management-reporting skills* A commercial mindset and the ability to turn financial data into practical insight* The confidence to challenge and influence senior stakeholders* A proactive approach to improving controls, systems and processesWHAT'S ON OFFER?* Salary of £70,000-£80,000 plus benefits* A clear pathway to Finance Director within three to four years* Direct exposure to an entrepreneurial Managing Director* Genuine autonomy and influence over business decisions* Responsibility for leading and developing your own finance team* A broad role covering every aspect of finance* The opportunity to join a stable, successful business with ambitious growth plansIf you are looking for a role in which your contribution will genuinely shape the future of a business and you have the ambition to progress to Finance Director we would like to hear from you.Apply today for further information and a confidential discussion.Greenwell Gleeson Ltd is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.To find out more about how and why Greenwell Gleeson Ltd process your personal data in line with the data protection regime please go to the privacy notice on our website
