We're looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to provide hands-on financial support to an organisation operating within the education and social care sector. Working 2 days per week, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping function, ensuring accurate financial records and supporting the wider finance team. You'll work closely alongside an existing Fractional Financial Controller, helping to maintain robust financial processes and providing reliable financial information to support the organisation's continued growth.
You're an experienced Bookkeeper with a strong background in managing day-to-day finance operations, ideally within an SME environment. You enjoy working collaboratively, are highly organised, and take pride in producing accurate financial information.
Customer invoicing and sales ledger management
Credit control and debtor reporting
Processing supplier invoices and managing the purchase ledger
Preparing payment runs for approval
Supplier statement reconciliations
Bank postings and bank reconciliations
Expense and company card processing and reconciliation
Preparing and submitting VAT returns
Month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and depreciation
Maintaining accurate financial records using Xero
Supporting the Fractional Financial Controller with month-end activities and financial reporting
Assisting with continuous improvement of finance processes and controls
Minimum of 3 years' UK-based bookkeeping or finance experience
working knowledge of Xero
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Confident managing multiple priorities and working independently
Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across the organisation
Experience supporting SMEs is desirable

Rate: £22.50 per hour
Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years' UK-based bookkeeping or finance experience.
