Job description
Champion Learners. Build Confidence. Transform Futures.
Are you passionate about helping children overcome barriers, develop a love of learning and achieve more than they ever thought possible? Oasis Academy Nunsthorpe is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our ambitious and caring academy community.
Oasis Academy Nunsthorpe is a welcoming primary school at the heart of the Grimsby community, where we are committed to helping every child become both a champion learner and a champion citizen. Our modern and dynamic curriculum is designed to maximise life chances, nurture a lifelong passion for learning and ensure every child succeeds, regardless of their starting point. Inclusion, pride and opportunity sit at the centre of everything we do, and we believe every child deserves the chance to flourish academically, socially and emotionally.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or aspiring Cover Supervisor who is ready to take the next step in their career and play a vital role in helping children achieve their full potential.
Creating Opportunities for Success
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be an integral part of our academy team, helping to deliver engaging learning experiences and outstanding support for pupils across the primary phase.
Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will lead learning during PPA cover and planned teacher absence, deliver targeted interventions and support pupils both academically and personally. You will work with whole classes, small groups and individual learners, ensuring that all children receive the support and challenge they need to succeed. Key aspects of the role include:
  • Leading high-quality learning experiences across the curriculum
  • Supporting pupils to make strong academic progress
  • Delivering interventions that close gaps and build confidence
  • Creating engaging resources and learning activities
  • Promoting positive behaviour and attitudes to learning
  • Providing pastoral support that nurtures wellbeing and resilience
  • Working in partnership with families and colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for children

Every contribution you make will help children develop the confidence, knowledge and skills they need to succeed both now and in the future.
Developing Lifelong Learners
At Oasis Academy Nunsthorpe, we believe education should inspire curiosity, creativity and ambition. Our aim is to develop pupils who are proud of themselves, passionate about learning and confident in their ability to shape the future. We encourage children to embrace challenge, celebrate individuality and understand that effort and perseverance are key to success. As a Cover Supervisor, you will support pupils to:
  • Develop a lifelong love of learning
  • Grow in confidence and self-belief
  • Build resilience when facing challenges
  • Explore their interests, talents and creativity
  • Work collaboratively and independently
  • Take pride in their achievements and community
  • Become responsible, thoughtful and respectful citizens

Through your encouragement and guidance, you will help children discover their strengths and realise their potential.
About You
We are looking for a motivated and caring professional who believes that every child can achieve success. The successful candidate will have experience supporting or leading learning for classes, groups and individual pupils, alongside strong communication and organisational skills. They will be able to build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues, maintain high expectations for achievement and behaviour, and demonstrate flexibility, resilience and initiative in their work. They will also be committed to supporting pupils with a wide range of needs and abilities, safeguarding children's welfare and championing the Oasis values of inclusion, equality, hope and perseverance.
Essential Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths
  • HLTA qualification desirable, although support may be available for the right candidate
  • Relevant experience supporting high-quality teaching and learning
  • Experience in Early Years and KS1 is advantageous

The Nunsthorpe Difference
Oasis Academy Nunsthorpe is proud to be a fully inclusive school where every child is known, valued and encouraged to succeed. Our academy combines a rich local heritage with a forward-thinking curriculum and a relentless commitment to improving life chances for the children and families we serve. By joining our team, you will become part of an academy that offers:
  • A strong culture of inclusion and belonging for all learners
  • A modern, dynamic curriculum designed around pupil success
  • A commitment to developing a lifelong passion for learning
  • Positive partnerships with families and the wider community
  • High aspirations for every child, regardless of background or starting point
  • Opportunities for children to develop pride, confidence and ambition

Invest in Your Future While Impacting Theirs
As part of Oasis Community Learning, you will benefit from excellent professional development opportunities, clear and structured career progression pathways, and access to a national network of academies and educational expertise. You will be part of a supportive and collaborative working culture that values innovation, teamwork and continuous improvement, alongside a strong commitment to staff wellbeing. In addition, you will have the opportunity to make a lasting difference to the lives of children, families and the wider community.
Most importantly, you will join a team that is determined to help every child develop into a confident learner, a responsible citizen and a young person equipped with the skills, aspirations and passion for learning needed to thrive throughout their lives.
Please note: Oasis Community Learning does not accept unsolicited CVs or speculative introductions from recruitment agencies. We work strictly with agencies on our Preferred Supplier List (PSL), and any CVs submitted outside of this agreement will not be liable for an introduction fee.
