A welcoming specialist school in Trowbridge, Wiltshire is looking for a dedicated Pastoral Support Worker to support children aged 5-16 with Autism, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and additional learning needs. This Pastoral Support Worker role offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience working within a nurturing educational environment alongside experienced teachers, pastoral staff, therapists, and SEN professionals.

As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will provide emotional and behavioural support to pupils both inside and outside the classroom. You will help children regulate their emotions, develop confidence and resilience, manage challenging situations, encourage positive behaviour, and build strong, trusting relationships. The Pastoral Support Worker will also support children during unstructured parts of the school day, deliver targeted pastoral interventions, promote attendance and engagement, and work collaboratively with staff to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.

This Pastoral Support Worker position is ideal for individuals considering future careers in education, youth work, social work, counselling, psychology, or mental health support. The experience gained as a Pastoral Support Worker will provide valuable insight into supporting vulnerable children while developing key skills in behaviour management, safeguarding, communication, and pastoral care.
