Job Description Are you looking for a stretching and exciting role to support crafting the future of economic crime policy in the UK ? About the Team The Sanctions, Illicit Finance and Security team (SIFS) is a friendly, busy, outward-facing team of c.40 people. We secure growth and protect UK interests, working in partnership to deliver effective policy that prevents economic crime, counters malign actors and strengthens global security. The team is made up of 8 branches: 1. Economic Crime Strategy Unit (ECSU), one of the team’s domestic-focused branches, which works with the Home Office, Department for Business and Trade (DBT), law enforcement and the private sector to deliver economic crime strategy. 2. Anti-Money Laundering Unit (AMLU), which owns the Money Laundering Regulations and the supervisory system which oversee compliance with them. 3. Sanctions and Counter Terrorist Financing branch, which works with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) and others to craft economic sanction regimes. 4. Global Security Branch (GSB), which is responsible for leading on the International Group family’s strategic interests in national security issues, including Russia and Ukraine. 5. Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and International branch. This branch leads our strategy towards, UK preparations for, and input into, meetings of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and leads work on tackling international illicit finance. 6. Technical Assistance Unit (TAU) which works with developing countries to assist their compliance with international standards on countering illicit finance. 7. FATF Mutual Evaluation Preparation Unit (MPU) which is leading preparation across the UK’s anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing regime for the UK’s upcoming evaluation by the Financial Action Task Force. 8. FATF Presidency and Projects Unit (FPP) which supports the current UK FATF Vice-President and is leading preparations for a UK FATF Presidency in. About the Job In this role, key responsibilities include: · Working collaboratively with government departments, law enforcement agencies and supervisory stakeholders to deliver economic crime priorities. · Maintaining oversight for the treasury’s interests in crypto currency and corporate transparency policy. · Advising Ministers on strategic decisions, risks or issues in economic crime. This includes helping to deliver changes to the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Regulations via an upcoming statutory instrument · Assisting in preparations for the next Financial Action Taskforce Mutual Evaluation of the UK · Supporting the wider branch with drafting correspondence, briefing seniors, and Parliamentary handling in relation to economic crime · Acting as an active member of a diverse and inclusive team, including by contributing to corporate activities at team, group or HMT level About You Having previous knowledge of anti-money laundering, tackling economic crime, FATF standards, financial services or crypto currencies would be useful. However, the postholder will be supported with development opportunities to get to grips with the subject matter and develop core skills. You will be able to analyse and assess different sources of evidence to clearly communicate recommendations, including how and when to consider alternative options or defend difficult decisions; be proactive at identifying and reassessing when and how to prioritise different projects to deliver on team priorities, and communicating this up the branch and build relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders with differing objectives, and leverage understanding of stakeholders’ objectives and drivers to build consensus on decisions Some of the Benefits our people love! • Generous Annual Leave – 25 days (rising to 30 after 5 years), plus public holidays and the King’s birthday. • Outstanding Pension Scheme – Defined Benefit pension with employer contrib
