Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and highly motivated Paramedic to join our friendly and forward-thinking GP practice as part of our Primary Care Network (BETA PCN) multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to work in primary care, providing high-quality, patient-centred clinical care. The successful candidate will assess, diagnose and manage patients with a wide range of acute and long-term conditions, helping to improve patient access while supporting the GP team.

Working under the ARRS you will collaborate with GPs, nurses and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe, effective and timely care to our patients.

This post is funded through the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS). Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements set out by NHS England and be eligible for employment under the scheme.

Job responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Undertake comprehensive clinical assessments of patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions.
  • Diagnose, treat and manage patients within your scope of practice.
  • Carry out care home/home visits where clinically appropriate.
  • Assess and manage urgent, same-day and acute presentations.
  • Order and interpret appropriate investigations within your competence.
  • Develop and implement management plans, including health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Refer patients appropriately to secondary care, community services and other healthcare professionals.
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic patient records using the EMIS web system.
  • Participate in clinical audits, significant event reviews, quality improvement activities and mandatory training.
  • Support the development of clinical services within the practice and Primary Care Network.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • Registered Paramedic with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Minimum of three years' post-registration clinical experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable
  • Experience working within General Practice or Primary Care.
  • Independent Prescribing qualification or willingness to undertake training.
  • Experience managing patients with long-term conditions.
  • Knowledge of EMIS Web.
  • Experience carrying out home and care home visits.
