Job description

Informa is a leading academic publishing, business intelligence, knowledge, and events business, creating unique content and connectivity for customers all over the world. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a member of the FTSE 100.

Taylor & Francis is one of the world’s largest publishers of high-quality, peer reviewed scholarly journals, books, e-books and reference works. We empower learners, thinkers and doers with trusted knowledge that advances research and enriches lives. We bring together diverse people, ideas and opinions to validate and publish the experts, theories and truths that matter. And we’ve been doing this in an unbroken arc since 1798.

Our purpose is to foster human progress through knowledge. We strongly believe that this requires us to encourage and examine different ideas and voices, so that any work that meets our exacting levels of quality deserves to be included in our publications. This requires open minds, the opportunity for robust debate, and the courage to defend perspectives that stand up to scrutiny, even if they conflict with our personal beliefs or values. Because that’s the only way to find the best obtainable version of the truth and, ultimately, foster human progress. If you agree, then we’d love to hear from you.

Job Description

This is one of the most consequential roles in T&F's product organisation. The Head of Product carries dual responsibility: running a high-performing domain model that delivers measurable value across our portfolio, and partnering with the business to identify and launch new products that drive T&F's next phase of commercial growth. You'll lead twelve experienced Senior Product Managers with autonomy, ensuring priorities are coherent, the team has clarity to make independent decisions, and you're consistently raising what this team believes it can achieve.

What you'll do

  • Partner with commercial, marketing, and executive stakeholders to translate business ambition into clearly defined product propositions with credible paths to market and measurable revenue impact.
  • Own the product strategy for the whole domain model, ensuring each domain's direction aligns with commercial goals and creates a genuinely differentiated marketplace experience.
  • Lead annual and quarterly product planning cycles, defining investment priorities and balancing short-term commercial delivery with longer-term strategic positioning.
  • Represent the product function in senior forums, communicating strategy and portfolio performance in terms that resonate at SLT/ELT level.
  • Own the design and evolution of the domain model, making structural decisions about how domains are defined, where boundaries sit, and when the model needs to change.
  • Ensure priorities are coherent across domains, managing dependencies and ensuring collective output adds up to more than the sum of its parts.
  • Hold the bar for how product work is done across the model, the quality of problem definition, rigour of prioritisation, use of evidence, and standard of outcome measurement.
  • Champion cross-domain portfolio thinking, creating forums and rituals that enable teams to align on shared problems and build toward a coherent customer experience.

Leadership of a High-Performing Senior IC Product Team

  • Set clear direction that enables experienced Senior PMs to make good independent decisions without escalation, reviewing regularly to ensure continued relevance.
  • Create organisational conditions for high performance, removing blockers, securing resources and stakeholder support, and protecting the space needed for excellent work.
  • Provide the context that makes autonomy meaningful, ensuring the team understands commercial goals, competitive landscape, and strategic bets.
  • Invest seriously in career development through honest one-to-ones, stretching objectives, specific feedback, and deliberate growth opportunities for twelve senior individuals.

New Product Development

  • Shape and sponsor strategically significant new product bets that open new revenue streams or expand T&F's addressable market, providing the senior leadership that 0-to-1 work requires.
  • Define and rigorously apply criteria that distinguish genuine new product opportunities from features with compelling business cases.
  • Create organisational conditions for new product development to succeed, protecting early-stage initiatives from the gravitational pull of the existing domain model.
  • Make investment and kill decisions with clarity and speed, stopping initiatives that aren't working before continuation costs exceed stopping costs.

Executive & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Heads of Engineering to ensure genuine alignment on priorities, architecture decisions affecting product direction, and pace and quality of delivery.
  • Build genuinely collaborative relationships with commercial leadership where product and commercial challenge each other's thinking and arrive at better decisions together.
  • Contribute actively to T&F's leadership culture, modelling the standard of thinking, communication, and decision-making expected across the organisation.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • Senior product leadership experiencewith accountability for a significant portfolio and team of experienced product professionals.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing senior talent, you understand that leading excellent people requires a fundamentally different approach than developing teams.
  • Track record at the product-commercial intersection, you've translated revenue ambition into product strategy and delivered measurable commercial value.
  • Deep expertise in domain or platform-based operating models at scale, you know how to balance team autonomy with customer experience coherence across large portfolios.
  • Executive-level communication skills, you represent product with clarity and confidence at SLT/ELT level, adapting your style across stakeholders and making complexity manageable.
  • A strong, articulated point of view on excellent product management, grounded in experience and used to raise standards across your teams.
  • Self-awareness and discipline, you know what only you can do versus what your team should own, and you act on that distinction consistently.

Additional Information

You must have the right to work and live in the UK.

What we offer in return:

  • A competitive salary + bonus
  • An excellent work/life balance with a fantastic, flexible working culture
  • 25 days annual leave
