Job Description

Are you keen to build your career in acoustics consultancy, working on varied noise and vibration projects that support sustainable development? Do you enjoy combining technical analysis, site work and clear communication to help clients make informed decisions? Are you curious, organised and motivated to grow as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team?

If this sounds like you, or you’re curious to learn more, then this role could be the perfect opportunity. Join our Noise & Vibration team as our new Acoustics Consultant and work with us to close the gap to a sustainable future.

Your new role

As our new Acoustics Consultant, you will support the delivery of noise and vibration assessments for a wide range of projects, combining technical analysis, site work and clear reporting. You will be part of our UK Noise & Vibration team in the Environment and Health business area, working alongside experienced acousticians and multidisciplinary colleagues across Ramboll. The role will include undertaking noise and vibration surveys, including work on active construction sites, and supporting assessments for major infrastructure projects, particularly in the rail and energy sectors. You will help prepare calculations, technical reports and advice for clients, planners and project teams, contributing to projects that support sustainable development and manage environmental impacts. You can expect a varied role with opportunities to develop your consultancy skills, work collaboratively with colleagues, and build experience across both site-based and office-based acoustics work.

Your key responsibilities will be

  • undertaking noise and vibration surveys;
  • carrying out noise and vibration calculations, assessments and reports;
  • supporting the preparation of proposals for new work;
  • working on noise assessments for planning, construction noise and vibration monitoring and mitigation, environmental impact assessment, and building acoustics; and
  • contributing to projects across sectors such as rail, residential property, data centres and energy.

About you

  • have an Acoustics degree, an Institute of Acoustics (IOA) diploma or equivalent and/or have suitable experience;
  • be able to demonstrate an understanding of environmental noise and vibration in the transportation and construction sector;
  • have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • hold a full UK drivers license;
  • have a strong work ethic and be organised, flexible and motivated; and
  • have a proven ability to plan, coordinate and monitor own work.

Knowledge or experience of any of the following would also be useful:

  • noise modelling in CadnaA;
  • knowledge of scripting in Python;
  • advanced knowledge of Excel including working with macros;
  • noise or vibration surveys;
  • working on construction sites or having a CSCS card; and
  • being an Associate member of the Institute of Acoustics.

What we can offer you

  • Commitment to your development
  • Leaders guided by our Leadership Principles
  • A culture that welcomes you as the unique person you are
  • Inspiration from colleagues, clients, and projects
  • The long-term thinking of a foundation-owned company
  • Flexible work environment
  • 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Matched pension contributions
  • Private medical cover and life assurance
