Location of Role: Maidstone Advert Closing Date: 17/08/2026 Starting Salary:£41,856.00 (pro-rata for part-time vacancies) Part/Full Time: Full Time Contract Type: Permanent Working Pattern: Mon-Fri Weekend/Evening Working: No As a key member of the communications team, you will deliver high-quality photographic and video services that enhance public trust and confidence, aid effective internal communications, and ensure the force is professional in its appearance and output. The postholder will plan, capture and edit professional still images and video that accurately reflect operational policing and the values of the force as encapsulated within the Pledge. The role supports the College of Policings Authorised Professional Practice by producing professional, lawful and accurate visual content that promotes transparency, counters misinformation and strengthens public trust and confidence in policing. The Multimedia Officer will report to the Head of Digital Communications to provide strategic support to the force by using a variety of photographic equipment and programmes to plan, create and advise on material suitable for projects such as social media campaigns, press releases, training, presentations and public engagement events that all underpin force priorities and are mindful of public perception. The post holder will also provide professional portrait photography across the force, including at award ceremonies and other internal events, and ensure all imagery used internally and externally presents Kent Police consistently to the highest professional standard. This includes supporting high-quality publications such as the internal force magazine. The role provides resilience for the existing videography function, supporting the delivery of corporate events, documentaries, podcasts, and other video-led projects that have either been proactively identified or commissioned by other departments. This includes strategic planning, storyboarding, filming, post-production and the effective use of equipment and lighting, as well as providing advice on best practice in visual storytelling across the Corporate Communications team for anyone in a digital-led role. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled and creative multimedia professional with strong technical expertise in photography and videography, and a proven ability to deliver high-quality visual content in a professional setting. They will be confident working independently while contributing to a collaborative team, with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines. Comfortable operating in dynamic and sometimes high-pressure environments, they will also demonstrate sound judgement when handling sensitive information and a clear understanding of public perception within a policing context. The post holder will be an effective communicator who can build strong relationships at all levels, providing expert advice and maintaining a professional presence with officers, staff and senior stakeholders. With experience of industry-standard tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and a strong grasp of visual storytelling, the successful candidate will combine creativity with technical knowledge, including lighting, equipment and digital workflows. They will also demonstrate a strong commitment to ethical standards, including GDPR, consent and accessibility, alongside a flexible and proactive approach to supporting campaigns, events and wider organisational priorities.
