We are adding a Project Management Intern to our small team to help coordinate a new project for one of our long-term partners. Our partner is a Manchester-based investment firm that needs to move away from a fragmented system of spreadsheets and manual data entry. You will help us manage the transition as we build them a custom database and a clean internal dashboard to handle their portfolio tracking. This is a fully remote position where you will get to see every stage of the software development lifecycle from the inside.
About Pixel Systems
Pixel Systems is a small software agency that builds the tools teams actually use to run their businesses. We do not focus on flashy marketing sites or social media apps. Instead, we spend our time on the practical side of software: admin panels, CRM integrations, and database migrations. Many of our clients come to us because their current processes are breaking, and they need a stable, long-term solution.
Our approach is straightforward and focused on clarity. We are a fully remote team of senior developers and designers who value working code over long meetings or complicated plans that never get finished. We provide fixed quotes, perform weekly demos, and deliver complete documentation for everything we build. We use reliable technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we want the systems we create to be easy to maintain and scale without unnecessary drama.
The Role
In this role, you will act as the coordination point between our developers and the project goals. You will spend a lot of time documenting requirements and making sure that nothing falls through the cracks during our weekly sprints. Since we are a small team, you will have a direct view of how we solve technical problems for our clients.
- Update and maintain our internal task boards to reflect current project status.
- Attend weekly demos with our client and take detailed notes on feedback and required changes.
- Help draft documentation that explains how the new system works for the end users.
- Follow up with developers to ensure that blockers are identified and communicated quickly.
- Organize project assets, such as walkthrough videos and technical handovers.
- Assist in testing new features to ensure they meet the requirements we agreed upon with the client.
- Keep our project timelines updated as priorities shift during development.
What you bring
We are looking for someone who is organized by nature and enjoys bringing order to a list of tasks. You do not need years of experience, but you do need to be someone who pays attention to the small details that others might miss.
- A clear and professional writing style for emails, notes, and documentation.
- The ability to listen to a technical conversation and summarize the main takeaways.
- A basic understanding of how software projects move from an idea to a finished product.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage your own schedule in a remote environment.
- Curiosity about how businesses use data to make decisions.
- Comfortable using spreadsheets and basic project management tools.
- A preference for simple, practical solutions over complicated processes.
Helpful background
While this is an entry level role, there are a few things that might make the transition easier. If you have spent time around these tools or concepts, it will be a plus, but we are happy to teach you our specific workflow.
- Basic familiarity with tools like GitHub or Trello for tracking work.
- An interest in the financial or investment sector, as it helps with our current client project.
- Previous experience in a role that required heavy coordination or scheduling.
- Exposure to basic programming concepts, even if you do not write code yourself.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace or similar office productivity suites.
Working at Pixel Systems
Working here is different from working at a large corporation. There are no layers of management to navigate, and we do not have pointless meetings. We trust our team to get their work done from wherever they are located. This position is 100 percent remote, and we value people who can communicate effectively through text and video calls.
We offer a supportive environment where you will learn how to manage technical projects without the fluff. This is a paid internship, and the pay is competitive for the role and the current market. You will be working on projects that solve real operational headaches for businesses, and you will see the immediate results of the work you help coordinate.
We are a pragmatic team. We do not chase the latest trends just for the sake of being new. We focus on building software that is stable, documented, and useful. If you prefer a quiet, productive atmosphere where the goal is simply to build good things for our clients, you will fit in well here.
