Job description
We are adding a Web Developer Intern to our team to support a project with a London-based financial firm. In this role, you will help us build the internal tools and dashboards that their operations team uses every day. This is not a role focused on flashy marketing sites or consumer apps. Instead, you will be working on the practical systems that help a large firm manage its data and daily workflows. We focus on building stable, reliable software that solves real problems for the people using it.

About Pixel Systems
Pixel Systems is a small, fully remote software agency that builds tools teams actually use. We do not chase the latest trends. Instead, we focus on the practical work that companies often struggle with, such as CRM integrations, admin panels, and database migrations. Our clients come to us when they need to replace a disorganized spreadsheet with a real database or get their different software tools to finally communicate with one another.
Our approach is straightforward. We believe that working code is better than a perfect plan that never ships. We provide fixed quotes before we start any project, perform weekly demos, and hand over everything: the code, the documentation, and even walkthrough videos: when we are finished. We use reliable, well-tested technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we want the software we build to be easy to maintain and stable over the long term.

The Role
As a Web Developer Intern, you will work closely with our senior developers on active projects. Much of your day-to-day work will involve moving data between systems and building out features for internal administrative tools. You will assist in cleaning up legacy code and ensuring that the data displayed in our dashboards is accurate and well-organized. This role is fully remote, and you will learn how a professional development team operates without the distractions of a physical office.
You will be involved in the full lifecycle of small features, from initial coding to documentation. We will show you how we manage technical debt and how to structure code so that it remains usable years down the road. This is a chance to see how professional software is built and maintained in a focused, low-drama environment.

What we are looking for
We need someone who is organized and enjoys the process of building functional tools. You do not need a long professional history, but you should have a solid grasp of web development basics. We value the following qualities:
  • A commitment to writing code that is easy for others to read and understand.
  • The ability to follow technical instructions and ask clarifying questions when needed.
  • An interest in how data moves between different systems and databases.
  • Comfort working independently in a remote setting.
  • A pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  • Willingness to work on internal tools and back-end systems rather than just front-end visuals.
  • Basic knowledge of how to use version control systems like GitHub.
Helpful background
While this is an entry-level internship, there are a few technical areas that will help you get started quickly. We do not expect mastery, but familiarity with these tools is a plus:
  • Basic experience with JavaScript and Node.js.
  • Familiarity with React or similar front-end frameworks.
  • An understanding of how relational databases like Postgres work.
  • Experience working with APIs to fetch or send data.
  • Previous personal projects or school assignments that involved building a web application.
This is a paid internship. The compensation is competitive for the role and the current market, ensuring you are fairly rewarded for your contributions to our projects.

Working at Pixel Systems
