As part of our newly established People & Culture Directorate, we are seeking an ambitious and forward-thinking Rostering Manager to lead our Trust-wide rostering service and workforce deployment function. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring our rostering systems, processes, and workforce intelligence support the delivery of safe, effective, and efficient patient care across the organisation.
Working closely with nursing, medical, operational, digital, and workforce colleagues, you will play a pivotal role in helping services maximise workforce utilisation, improve roster quality, enhance compliance, and support safer staffing decisions.
Main duties of the jobAs the Trust's senior operational lead for rostering services, you will provide leadership for the central rostering team and oversee workforce deployment processes across clinical and non-clinical services.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading the Trust's central rostering service and workforce deployment function
- Driving compliance with Agenda for Change, Medical and Dental Terms and Conditions, Working Time Regulations, and Trust rostering standards
- Optimising eRostering systems to support safe staffing and operational effectiveness
- Using workforce data, KPIs, and rostering intelligence to support decision-making and service improvement
- Supporting managers and clinical teams to maximise workforce utilisation and improve roster performance
- Leading training, compliance monitoring, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives

Job responsibilitiesWe are looking for a credible and collaborative leader with:
- A current or previous professional registration with the NMC, HCPC, GMC, or GPhC.
- Significant experience leading rostering, staffing, workforce deployment, or operational workforce services.
- Strong knowledge of safer staffing principles, workforce planning, and roster governance.
- Experience of eRostering systems, workforce reporting, and performance management.
- Proven ability to influence senior clinicians, managers, and operational teams.
- A commitment to delivering excellent services through compassionate, inclusive leadership.
Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Masters level qualification or equivalent senior experience
- Current or previously held professional registration (NMC, HCPC, GMC, GPhC)
ExperienceEssential- Significant post registration clinical experience
- Experience leading rostering or staffing services across multiple staff groups
- Experience interpreting and applying AfC, M&D TCS and WTR
Desirable- Medical rota management
- Trust wide rollout of digital workforce systems
