Job description

Are you passionate about developing others and confident delivering hands-on training in a fast-paced warehouse environment? Do you take pride in keeping people safe, building capability and setting high standards from day one? If you’re organised, proactive and enjoy being out on the shop floor making a real impact, this could be the role for you.

Here at GXO Logistics, we’re looking for two MHE Trainers to join our new retail distribution operation in Northampton. This is a purpose-designed, high-volume site servicing over 250+ stores, where safety, accuracy and performance are critical - and where your training expertise will help shape how the operation runs from the very start. Working closely with the Operations and L&D teams, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality MHE training, ensuring colleagues are competent, confident and compliant in a busy, MHE-heavy environment.

This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week on a rotating any 5 from 7 shift pattern (Sunday–Thursday & Monday–Friday). Your hours of work will also rotate weekly between 06:00 – 14:00 and 14:00 – 22:00.

Pay, benefits and more:

You’ll be paid a salary of £30,060.50 per annum, which includes a £2000 responsibility allowance. You’ll also receive 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes flexible dental insurance plans, a company sponsored pension scheme, a 24/7 online GP service, life assurance and a fully comprehensive employee assistance programme. You’ll also have access to our MyBenefits platform offering a variety of high street discounts, a cycle to work scheme, cashback cards, a saving scheme and much more! Including our GXO University which provides you the opportunity to learn new skills and gain qualifications at a pace that you’re comfortable with.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Deliver MHE training (LLOP, PPT and other equipment) to new and existing colleagues
  • Instruct, test and reassess operators to ensure safe and compliant use of equipment
  • Support inductions, refresher training and on-the-job coaching across site
  • Maintain accurate training records, certificates and documentation in line with compliance requirements
  • Work closely with operational teams to monitor standards, identify gaps and support continuous improvement

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Previous experience as an MHE Trainer in a Warehouse or Logistics environment
  • A current MHE trainer qualification (RTITB, ITSSAR or AITT) and actively training on a recent and regular basis
  • Confident delivering MHE training (LLOP, PPT) and Manual Handling training
  • Confidence delivering classroom and hands-on training in a fast-paced operation
  • Strong communication and coaching skills with the ability to engage learners at all levels
  • High attention to detail, with a structured and methodical approach to record keeping
  • A proactive, hands-on mindset with a genuine focus on safety and standards
