Job Summary
GP Healthcare Alliance are seeking an experienced and motivated Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor to join our training team. The postholder will be responsible for the delivery of BLS training to clinical and non-clinical staff in line with Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) guidelines at various locations. This role is key to ensuring staff are competent and confident in responding to life-threatening emergencies in healthcare and community settings.

Main duties of the job
  • Deliver high-quality BLS training sessions, including adult, paediatric, and neonatal CPR, use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), management of choking and anaphylaxis, using adrenaline auto-injectors (AAIs).
  • Facilitate practical training, skills assessments, and scenario-based learning in accordance with Resuscitation Council UK standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of training attendance, certification, and staff compliance.
  • Contribute to the development and review of training materials, ensuring up-to-date evidence-based practice.
  • Support the wider clinical education team in the delivery of mandatory training programmes.
  • Participate in audits, evaluations, and quality improvement projects related to resuscitation training.
  • Maintain and monitor resuscitation equipment used during training, ensuring functionality and cleanliness.

  • Work with colleagues in the team on the development of current and new services and other initiatives.

  • Know GPHAs policies, especially the whistle-blowing policy, available in the practice staff handbook.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Attend annual updates and mandatory training as required.
  • Highlight any gaps in knowledge/training needs to their line manager to allow them the opportunity to offer support to fulfil the duties of this post.
  • Act in a manner that safeguards children and/or vulnerable adults as applicable to the role.
  • Work in line with organisational policies and procedural guidelines.

Clinical governance
  • To remain up to date with all mandatory training.
  • To meet responsibilities as an employee as set out in the organisations corporate and clinical policies.
  • To always maintain confidentiality.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • Recognised BLS Instructor qualification (e.g., RCUK BLS Instructor Certificate)
  • Current registration with a relevant healthcare professional body (e.g., NMC, HCPC) or significant experience in emergency response or clinical education.

  • Immediate Life Support Instructor qualification

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
