Job description
Herefordshire Council, C&YP- Educational Psychologist – Herefordshire Educational Psychology Service Job Title: Educational Psychologist – Herefordshire Educational Psychology Service. Contract: Permanent. Hours: 37 Salary: Soulbury Salary Scale A 5-9 £53554 - £61721 plus previously awarded SPA points 1 and 2 will be honoured. Location: Main Office Base Location: Herefordshire Council Offices, Plough Lane, Hereford, but with an agile working model. The Role We are looking for an educational psychologist to join our small, friendly and caring team. We are a well-established team who have an excellent reputation amongst our LA colleagues and our wonderful group of schools. If you are passionate about applying psychology to support children and young people, and have a focus on inclusion and wellbeing, you will definitely feel at home in Herefordshire. Whilst in recent years there has been a focus on statutory work, we are looking for new staff to allow us to meet demand for our early-intervention work with schools since the recent publication of DfE’s white paper; ‘Every Child Achieving and Thriving.’ The successful candidate will need to demonstrate good psychological case formulation skills, and have an interest in developing new projects. Mostly, we wish to appoint a colleague who places relationships at the heart of what they do, and an ability to promote warmth and connection with the adults and young people we work with. We are committed to personal development and your growth will be supported through reflective supervision/peer supervision, and interest led CPD. We hope the successful candidate will develop an area of interest to enrich our growth as a team. Applicants must be professionally qualified and HCPC registered. An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check is required. We welcome applicants who are still in training. Although the post is full-time, we would consider part-time applicants. Come and join us on our Restorative Journey of Improvement to gain the best for children and families in Herefordshire. About You To arrange an informal discussion, or ask any questions about the role, please contact Dr Caryl Griffiths, Principal EP on caryl.griffiths@herefordshire.gov.uk, or email RecruitmentCYPD@herefordshire.gov.uk We Offer A competitive salary, holiday entitlement, and access to our contributory pension and staff benefits scheme, which includes: * Salary range of Soulbury Scale A 5-9, previously awarded SPA points 1 & 2 will be honoured. * Annual Leave: 31 days’ annual leave (pro rata) plus bank holidays. You can also purchase an additional 10 days per annum during the request period. * Flexible working: including the potential for part-time hours and agile working. * Employee Assistance Programme: 24/7 access to support and counselling. * Payment of professional membership fees (based on role requirements). * Pick your perks - our benefits include access to a range of retail, leisure, holiday and health benefits. This includes savings, cash back and discounts. Why Choose Us? Herefordshire is a beautiful, historic county on the Welsh border, one of England’s most rural and unspoilt areas, with vibrant market towns and a strong sense of community. Our priority is clear: to keep children safe and give them the best start in life. We do this through passionate, dedicated professionals who build strong relationships with children, families, and partners to make a lasting difference. It’s an exciting time to join us. We’re investing in our people and our relational practice approach, working alongside our improvement partner, Leeds City Council. You’ll be supported by experienced managers, continuous professional development, and a genuine team ethos that values collaboration and care. If you’re committed to helping children and young people thrive, come and join the journey in Herefordshire– where your work truly matters. Herefordshire Council Plan Herefordshire Council Plan 2024-2025 Reasonable Adjustments Our recruitment process runs in partnership with Hoople Resourcing.
