The Opportunity

Are you passionate about food safety, hygiene standards and helping customers achieve operational excellence?

We're recruiting on behalf of our client for a Food Safety & Hygiene Technologist to join a dynamic and growing team supporting food manufacturers across the UK.

This is a unique opportunity to combine technical expertise with customer-facing responsibilities in a highly varied role. You'll work closely with customers to improve hygiene standards, support compliance, deliver training and provide practical solutions that make a real impact on site performance.

No two days are the same. One day you'll be conducting a hygiene audit at a manufacturing facility, the next you'll be delivering training, supporting audit preparation or working alongside commercial colleagues to identify opportunities that enhance customer operations.

If you enjoy building relationships, solving problems and spending time out in the field rather than behind a desk, this could be the ideal next step in your career.

The Role

Food Safety, Compliance & Technical Support

  • Conduct hygiene and compliance audits within food manufacturing environments
  • Carry out chemical usage assessments and site hygiene inspections
  • Deliver customer training on hygiene best practice, chemical safety and product application
  • Support customers with audit preparation and food safety compliance requirements
  • Provide practical recommendations to improve hygiene performance and operational efficiency
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation, standards and industry developments

Customer & Commercial Support

  • Build strong relationships with customers across multiple manufacturing sites
  • Recommend appropriate hygiene solutions based on customer needs
  • Support Key Account Managers with proposals, quotations and presentations
  • Identify opportunities to add value through improved hygiene processes and compliance solutions
  • Coordinate customer visits, service activities and technical support requirements

Reporting & Documentation

  • Produce detailed audit reports and compliance documentation
  • Maintain accurate records of customer visits, training activities and audit findings
  • Support the development of customer hygiene management systems and manuals
  • Analyse customer data and trends to identify improvement opportunities

About You

We're interested in speaking with individuals who have a genuine interest in food safety, hygiene, compliance or technical services within manufacturing environments.

You may currently be working as a:

  • Food Safety Technician
  • Hygiene Technologist
  • Quality Technician
  • Technical Assistant
  • Compliance Officer
  • Quality Auditor
  • Graduate Food Technologist
  • Environmental Health Professional

You'll Ideally Have

  • Experience within food manufacturing, food safety, hygiene or compliance environments
  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety principles
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong attention to detail and report writing capability
  • A proactive and hands-on approach to problem solving
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own diary
  • A full UK driving licence

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of BRC, ISO 22000, ISO 14001 and retailer audit requirements
  • Experience delivering training or technical support to customers
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications

What We're Looking For

This role will suit a self-motivated, professional individual who enjoys working directly with customers and has the flexibility to travel extensively throughout the region.

You'll be comfortable working in busy manufacturing environments, confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels and motivated by the opportunity to build a long-term career in a growing and evolving sector.

If you're looking for a varied field-based role where you can develop your technical expertise, build strong customer relationships and genuinely make a difference to food safety standards, we'd love to hear from you.
