Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, Job Title: Advanced Practitioner Grade/Salary: Band H, SCP 38-43 (£49,282 - £54,495 per annum) Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time Working Pattern: Monday – Sunday (Rota), 37 hours, includes unsociable hours Location: Various across Sandwell Closing Date: 23/08/2026 Sandwell Council’s Adult Social Care Division is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Advanced Practitioner to join its team on a permanent, full-time basis. Location is varied across three locations within Sandwell, based on the requirements of the role. The organisation is operating to a hybrid working model. As Advanced Practitioner, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality adult social care services that promote wellbeing, independence and positive outcomes for local people. Working alongside the Team Manager, you will help lead and manage an operational service area, ensuring statutory responsibilities, professional standards and performance expectations are met. You will support the development of effective partnerships, oversee day-to-day service delivery, manage resources efficiently and provide supervision and guidance to staff. The role requires a strong understanding of adult social care legislation, safeguarding principles and outcome-focused practice, ensuring residents receive the right support at the right time to maintain their independence and wellbeing. About The Role * Lead, manage and develop a multidisciplinary team, providing supervision, appraisals, training and professional support to achieve high performance. * Oversee the day-to-day operation of the service area, ensuring effective service delivery, quality standards and statutory compliance. * Promote a customer-focused approach that delivers positive outcomes for vulnerable adults, carers and local communities. * Ensure services are delivered in line with relevant legislation, safeguarding requirements, equality principles and best practice. * Manage allocated budgets and resources effectively, including care package expenditure, staffing budgets and service performance targets. * Monitor, evaluate and improve service performance, implementing recovery plans and service improvements where required. * Lead recruitment, workforce planning and the management of employee relations matters, including attendance, capability and disciplinary processes. * Build and maintain effective partnerships with internal teams, health partners, providers and other stakeholders to deliver integrated services. * Drive service development, innovation and change initiatives, supporting the implementation of local and national priorities. * Deputise for the Team Manager as required, providing operational leadership, decision-making and oversight of complex cases and service activities. About You * Social Work Qualification (DipSw, Social Work Degree or equivalent). * Proven post Social Work qualification practice experience and experience within a relevant Adult Social Care setting. * Demonstratable experience or involvement of managing complex budgets. * Experience of partnership working within a relevant setting. * Experience of working to improve performance. * Proven experience of supervising staff and or students. * Completion of safeguarding adults training. * Knowledge and understanding of customer care practices. * Knowledge of the principles of sound financial management and budgetary processes and controls. Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance. * Knowledge of safeguarding practice and procedures. * Knowledge and understanding of the importance of performance management and the use of management information systems in operational management. * Project management skills. * The ability to carry out case file audits.
