  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with complex learning needs
  • Supporting pupils with communication, sensory regulation and engagement in learning
  • Assisting with personal care and promoting dignity, independence and wellbeing
  • Implementing communication strategies, including PECS, Makaton and sensory-based approaches where appropriate
  • Encouraging social, emotional and physical development through structured activities
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families to ensure the best possible outcomes for every child
  • Helping to create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment where pupils can flourish

  • Well-resourced sensory rooms and specialist learning environments
  • Opportunities to support hydrotherapy, sensory integration and communication programmes
  • A welcoming, collaborative and experienced staff team
  • Dedicated mentoring and guidance throughout the academic year
  • Exceptional experience for aspiring SEN Teachers, Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and healthcare professionals

The Ideal PMLD Assistant Will Have

  • Experience with personal care and manual handling
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with complex additional needs
  • Patience, empathy and emotional resilience
  • Confidence supporting personal care where required
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn within a specialist SEN setting

Why Apply?

As a PMLD Assistant, you'll become an integral part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to transforming the educational journey of children with the most complex needs.
