Job summaryFirdale Medical Centre is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated
Band 5 Nurse to join our friendly and supportive primary care team for
16 hours per week (2 days / 4 sessions).
This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse with an interest in preventive healthcare, immunisations, and travel medicine. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering our routine vaccination programmes while helping to develop and grow a new travel health clinic for our patient population.
Working closely with the wider clinical team, you will provide safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care while supporting national and local vaccination initiatives.
Main duties of the job- Deliver routine childhood and adult immunisation programmes in line with national guidance.
- Administer seasonal and routine vaccinations, including influenza and COVID-19 programmes as required.
- Assess patients attending for immunisations and provide appropriate health education and advice.
- Support the development and delivery of the practice's travel health service.
- Undertake travel risk assessments and provide travel health advice within competency and training levels.
- Administer travel vaccinations and maintain accurate clinical records.
- Ensure vaccine storage, handling, and cold chain requirements are maintained.
- Maintain accurate documentation and coding within the clinical system.
- Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with GPs, nursing colleagues, and administrative staff to deliver high-quality patient care.
About usFirdale Medical Centre is a member of Northwich Primary Care Network. We currently look after over 11500 patients as well as mentor and support one of the local nursing homes.
The practice is led by four GP partners, and we employ five salaried doctors. To complete the clinical team we have two nurses, health care assistant, a pharmacist, pharmacy technician and two Musculo-skeletal (MSK) specialists.
We are also teaching practice supporting foundation and specialty doctors.

Job responsibilities- Deliver routine childhood, adult, and seasonal immunisations in accordance with national guidance.
- Support and develop the practice travel health clinic, including travel risk assessments and vaccine administration.
- Provide health promotion and preventative healthcare advice to patients.
- Undertake treatment room activities as delegated, including wound care, dressings, blood pressure monitoring, phlebotomy, and other clinical procedures within competence.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and coding.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and management of vaccines and medical supplies.
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care.
- Participate in clinical audits, mandatory training, and quality improvement activities.
Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
Desirable- Travel related qualifications and courses
ExperienceDesirable- Experience working in primary care, community nursing, or vaccination services.
- Experience administering routine childhood and adult immunisations.
- Experience using clinical systems such as EMIS Web.
SkillsEssential- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
