We are recruiting for an experienced Tooling Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Wednesbury. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled engineer with a background in precision grinding and tooling refurbishment to join a business that values quality, craftsmanship and continuous improvement.
Working within a specialist tooling environment, you will be responsible for manufacturing, maintaining and reconditioning precision tooling to exacting engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Grind tungsten carbide dies to extremely tight dimensional tolerances and high-quality surface finishes.
Re-condition tooling in accordance with engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Precision grind carbide plugs using resin-bonded angle wheels to achieve the required finish and performance.
Set up, adjust and carry out routine maintenance on grinding equipment to ensure optimum machine performance.
Inspect completed components using precision measuring equipment including:
Micrometers
Bore gauges
Vernier callipers
Dial indicators
Read and interpret engineering drawings, geometric tolerances and technical specifications.
Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy and housekeeping within the tooling department.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience within a precision tooling or toolroom environment and possess excellent attention to detail.
Essential Experience
- Operating Jones & Shipman 1076 & 1077 internal and external cylindrical grinding machines.
Experience using a CATMUR Tripet grinder.
Competent operating a Mascot 1600 lathe.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work to extremely tight tolerances.
Strong understanding of precision inspection techniques and measuring equipment.
Excellent problem-solving skills and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Desirable
- Experience using an Aberlink Co-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) for dimensional inspection. xwwtmva
