Job description

Due to our exciting and ambitious growth plans, we are seeking applicants with the right skills and attitude towards customer service excellence to join our team of experienced Mortgage Advisors.

Reporting to the Mortgage Advice Manager, you will be fully CeMap qualified, gained experience in mortgage processes and have worked in a customer facing role. You will provide quality mortgage advice and carry out a range of mortgage administration duties, delivering strong customer service to new and existing customers and ensuring good customer outcomes.

If you are self-motivated and have a drive to succeed in a fast paced sales focused environment, we’d love to hear from you.

About The Role

What you will do

While undergoing comprehensive training, you will be responsible for delivering sound advice and great service to new and existing customers who wish to arrange their mortgage with Progressive, applying your knowledge of our Lending Policies, procedures and product ranges to deliver robust recommendations and lending decisions, backed up with appropriate documentation.

Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for advising on new direct business into the Society, retention of existing borrowers and providing added support to branch management. You will conduct the mortgage interview process remotely using Teams or telephone and will utilise the digital booking system for customer appointments, ensuring that your diary is appropriately managed.

You will accurately assess individual customer needs and circumstances and provide appropriate advice, documentation and information in accordance with MCOB, money laundering and other regulatory and Society procedures.

Your role will require you to appraise applications by assessing applicant identity, completing credit checks, assessing the accuracy of applicant information, conducting affordability assessments, identifying and recording any risks and gathering the required documentation.

Communicating effectively is key to the role both with the applicants throughout their mortgage journey and with relevant parties including solicitors, valuers and internal departments, keeping appropriate records. By dealing efficiently with member queries and complaints, you will play your part in maintaining good will and upholding the Society’s reputation for customer service excellence.

Other key duties include carrying out non-regulated/execution only requests, inputting complete and accurate information into our mortgage application system and referring customers for home insurance quotes and life cover as well as undertaking various administrative duties.

This role involves remote working; however, the successful applicant will be required to attend the Society's Head Office, particularly during the training period. The successful applicant must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including occasional Saturday mornings and evenings, either remotely or from the Society's Abbey Centre branch, as required. These working arrangements may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business.

Progressive Building Society is committed to providing equal opportunities for all.

Required Criteria

  • Full CeMap qualification.
  • Experience of using Mortgage Processing tools such as Activate, Quick Quote, MSS and DSX
  • Experience of building relationships and working with other teams involved in the lending process
  • Current/recent experience in a customer service role (minimum 2 continuous years)
