Job description
  • Ongoing, full-time role based in Horsham * Make a difference in reducing over representation of Aboriginal people in the criminal justice system * Salary banding of $100,894 - $114,476 plus superannuation About This Role This is a prioritised role for Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander peoples, who will be given priority consideration as per the special measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Are you passionate about supporting Aboriginal people in the justice system and ready to take the lead in driving change? Were looking for a committed and culturally knowledgeable Aboriginal Advanced Case Manager to join our team and help create safer, stronger communities—one person at a time. In this vital role, youll work with both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal clients, supporting individuals with complex needs and those who have committed serious offences. Using a strengths-based, culturally informed approach, youll help guide them through their rehabilitation journey while contributing to positive outcomes for the broader community. You’ll also play a key role in shaping how we support Aboriginal clients—providing expert advice, developing cultural support plans, and working closely with Aboriginal organisations (such as Goolum Goolum and Budja Budja Aboriginal Co-operatives) and the Koori Court. Offer outreach services to participants living in neighbouring communities to Horsham, including Stawell, Ararat, and St Arnaud. What Youll Be Doing * Delivering meaningful case management for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal clients, focused on behaviour change and completing correctional orders. * Creating tailored cultural support plans to meet the specific needs of Aboriginal clients. * Assessing risk factors and developing individualised case plans that support rehabilitation and reduce reoffending. * Providing expert advice to senior leaders and community-based teams on culturally safe and effective approaches to working with Aboriginal clients. * Building strong partnerships with Aboriginal organisations and support services to improve access to culturally appropriate resources. * Attending Koori Court to provide advice and support where needed. About You Were seeking someone who brings a deep understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal community, along with strong case management skills and a genuine passion for supporting others. Youll Have * A proven ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people and communities. * Strong knowledge of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in the justice system. * Experience in applying evidence-based case management frameworks, especially with individuals with complex needs. * The ability to apply theory to practice—identifying risk, planning interventions, and supporting behaviour change. * A mindset focused on continuous improvement and innovation. Why Join Us? This is more than just a job—its a chance to make a real difference in peoples lives and work towards a more just, inclusive system. Youll be part of a dedicated and culturally respectful team, supported to grow and thrive in your role.
