Join our Team at Macphie

Let us introduce ourselves...

Macphie, an internationally acclaimed family ingredient manufacturer, proudly situated in the picturesque and tranquil landscapes of Glenbervie in Aberdeenshire with sites in Glasgow and Midlands too. Our expertise spans across a spectrum of delectable delights, including sauces, bakery creations, and heavenly ice cream toppings. We also cater to the evolving culinary landscape with our plant-based and gluten-free offerings. Trusted partners to some of the globe's leading food brands, we are dedicated to transforming ideas and creativity into tangible, delectable solutions.

We're now looking for a QC Analyst to join our Quality team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Reporting to the QC Team Leader, you'll play a key role in ensuring our raw materials and finished products consistently meet the high quality standards expected by both Macphie and our customers.

You'll be involved in routine quality control testing, product release, hygiene monitoring, calibration activities and maintaining accurate quality records, working closely with Production, Engineering and the wider Quality team to help ensure our products are safe, compliant and manufactured to the highest standards.

Salary: £31,000 - £34,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus an 8.5% shift allowance for all hours worked on the night shift once fully trained.

Shift Pattern

The role will initially operate on a two-week rotating shift pattern while training is completed:

  • Early Shift: 06:00 – 14:00
  • Back Shift: 14:00 – 22:00

Once fully trained, you'll move onto a three-week rotating shift pattern, which includes:

  • Early Shift: 06:00 – 14:00
  • Back Shift: 14:00 – 22:00
  • Night Shift: 22:00 – 06:00

What you'll be doing

  • Carrying out routine quality control testing on raw materials, finished goods and factored products.
  • Releasing products that meet specification.
  • Completing routine hygiene testing across production areas.
  • Supporting calibration of laboratory and production measuring equipment.
  • Maintaining accurate laboratory records and computer-based quality documentation.
  • Sampling and preparing materials for external laboratory analysis.
  • Supporting weight and volume compliance checks.
  • Working closely with Production and Engineering teams to maintain quality and food safety standards.
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures and legislation.

Requirements

We're looking for someone who is motivated, organised and takes pride in producing accurate work.

Ideally you'll have:

  • Previous experience within a Quality Control, Quality Assurance or food manufacturing environment (preferred but not essential).
  • Experience working within a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and web-based systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern.
  • A basic understanding of food hygiene and health & safety requirements.

We're also looking for someone who demonstrates our values:

  • Attention to Detail – producing accurate work and maintaining high standards.
  • Respect – treating colleagues with dignity and respect.
  • One Team – working collaboratively to achieve shared goals.
