About the role

Ignite a passion for lifelong learning and become a Programme Manager for Languages, Humanities and Agewell at HF Adult Learning and Skills Service. The London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, Adult Learning & Skill Service [ALSS] provides over 400 courses to more than 6,000 students locally and London wide.

The courses offered are both nationally accredited qualifications and non-accredited courses at various locations throughout the borough. H&F Adult Learning and Skills Service (ALSS) is seeking to recruit a dynamic and confident full time Programme Manager for Languages, Humanities and Agewell, reporting to the Senior Manager for Teaching, Learning and Quality. This is a key role to manage and co-ordinate all Language, Humanities and Agewell provision. The LHU and Agewell departments provide over 50 courses per term across languages, humanities, and wellness programmes. Courses are available in 8 modern foreign languages, including interpreting skills training. Humanities offerings cover history, creative writing, and counselling. The Agewell programme offers over 20 courses tailored for the 60+ age group focused on fitness and exercise. Approximately 20 experienced sessional staff teach the courses. LHU provides a wide selection of lifelong learning opportunities for personal growth as well as career development.

This full time Programme Manager post is a key appointment to ensure that we maintain our excellent standards in teaching and learning. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced person to take on this exciting role and support our borough residents achieve nationally recognized certificates and progress in their lives.

The Programme Manager will lead and manage established staff and sessional lecturers in the curriculum areas. Ensure the comprehensive planning of provision across three main centres, as well as outreach venues, to include schools and community settings across the borough. The post holder must: have a degree or equivalent Level 4 Adult teaching qualification and subject specific qualification at Level 4 and successful adult teaching experience. Experience of contributing towards curriculum planning and development. Knowledge and understanding of Ofsted, (the Education Inspection Framework EIF) and the ability to contribute to quality improvement strategies. Range of recent successful teaching experience in programme area. Evidence of ability to develop and manage a curriculum programme that is responsive to and meets the needs of the Services objectives and priorities. Evidence of ability to recruit, support and manage staff to perform to a high standard. Evidence of understanding and knowledge of developments and policies pertinent to the service.
